I can’t remember why I paid 110 euro for this hotel, considering this was well above the going rate for similar hotels in Sicily at the time of year. Probably because all other hotels in Siracusa were more expensive.

That said, the hotel was of reasonable quality – despite its somewhat dingy exterior and the general locale - opposite the railway station, and next door to a shop that sold live chickens and hens!

The room quality was quite good, with air-conditioning and a good sized clean bathroom. There was no mini bar - and hence no fridge. Also, no elevator, which meant luggage had to be carried upstairs. Staff were quite friendly and helpful

The hotel is within 15 minutes walking distance of the old town, and there is also parking available outside.

Breakfast was served in the front lobby – literally – and was poor enough fare compared to similar hotels

We ate dinner at I'll Cenacolo, which is a busy, popular and good value restaurant in a side street close to the cathedral

For a three-star hotel, this more than met expectations. Location is excellent and the hotel is extremely clean. What impressed me most, however, was the efficiency, helpfulness and friendliness of the staff - without exception.
