“A gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Breakfast room on the roof gives splendid views across the bay. One of the best starts to the day I can imagine. As is typical in good Italian hotels, staff are immaculate but not as fast or as attentive as you might expect. Relax, get used to it and it is fine. Location is excellent assuming that you were not planning to drive or park nearby.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are the best.

“Scent of a hotel”

This hotel deserves every cent. Located seaside Ortygia, it offers a very luxurious stay. The only problem is that it may be a bit difficult to find, because the road sign says "Passeggio Arethussa" instead of "Passegio Adorno". But the staff is very friendly, the rooms are barocque, and there is always this scent around that is very fresh and clean. Highly recommended for Syracuse. Don't miss the breakfast on the terrace with a view on the new city.

“very very good 5 star hotel”

Located in Syracusa Ortigia this site is extraordinary This hotel is among the most prestigious and usually quite costly but we got a reasonable price in December so decided for this special treat. Very well located (except for the inconveniences of parking) the hotel is very Liberty style rooms excellent and the breakfast on the roof top garden is very special , one of the best we ever had in termes of quality of food and scenery. If you can't stay there at least go for the breakfast or a drink. As mentioned only the parking and directions to get there are a minus (take the second bridge not the main one)

“Mosaics, wonderful dining and a Ghost - A MUST STAY!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

We arrived at 8:30pm, in the pouring rain, with no reservation. It was my birthday. We had had a long day touring and been through bad traffic so were late getting to Siracusa. My husband sent me in to beg for a room. I was tired and wet and must have looked a fright. I mentioned to the receptionist it was my birthday and she became an angel in the midst of my despair. She looked at my passport to confirm and suddenly everyone swung into action.

We were upgraded to a Junior Suite through AMEX, Platinum. The hotel staff was stellar. Our room was more than ample, high ceilings, clean and fabulous tile in the bath. The windows and view were spectacular.
While dressing for dinner, I saw what can only be described as a ghost in my room. I am an educated, rational woman and well traveled. I have never seen a ghost before or since. This was an extremely clear, long lasting and overall pleasant experience. Not threatening in the least.
A few minutes later, the staff delivered complimentary champagne to the room for my birthday - what a unexpected treat! Additionally, they held the rooftop restaurant - glass enclosed - located right on the very tip of Siracusa - OPEN so we could eat a five star meal. This kind of service is unheard of today.
While dining, an incredibly severe storm hit the coast. It felt like a hurricane and I am from New Orleans. For two hours, the rain and the wind swirled all around us while doors banged and the palms fell outside on the terrace. Inside, warm and cozy, the piano man gently kept playing. The wait staff was reserved, generous, very well schooled and worthy of any premium establishment in the world. It was an exquisite dining experience.

The architecture and the mosaics in this hotel are museum quality. Our company has sold luxury natural stone for 20 years and the mosaics in this hotel made me jealous.

This hotel enjoys THE premier location in Siracusa and is directly on the southernmost tip to the sea. If you could look far enough, you would see Malta.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Junior Suite.

“Best Location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

I stayed during a recent trip and had a very positive experience. It is right off the Piazza Duomo and in easy walking distance to a number of restaurants and shopping. My room faced the water and a majestic cluster of palm trees. It's directly across from Fonte Aretusa with the giant papyrus cluster in the center. My room was comfortable and large. The only shortcoming was a very small stall shower in the bath, so make sure you ask for a bathtub. The restaurant was decent, but not fabulous, but the service was friendly and good throughout. I definitely would recommend this hotel. I didn't use any of the spa facilities, so I can't comment on those.

Room Tip: Ask to face the water and for a tub in your bathroom.
