“Great B&B, Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Giovanni must be the best host in Palermo. Nothing was too much trouble, even getting up at 4.00 am to make sure we had breakfast before a very early flight. Giovanni even bakes his own bread and apple cake for the guests' breakfast. He is super efficient and speaks perfect English. Spotlessly clean premises and so close to the bus and train station, which are in the same terminal. However, care needs to be taken when crossing the very wide road into Via Roma. Don't cross the major intersection, but take the slightly longer route and use the street at the side of the terminal which leads you to the crosswalk. The modern and clean bathroom being down the passage was not a problem and although given a key to lock it after use, we never felt it was necessary. The bedrooms are the largest I've come across in Italy. Wish all our B&Bs had been of the same standard as Giovanni's.

Room Tip: We had 2 single rooms with an adjoining door. Both rooms were huge.

“Great Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

The B&B owner, Giovanni, was great! The rooms are spacious. The bathrooms are private but down the hall. Fresh linens including a robe and slippers are provided. Breakfast everyday including home made bread and pastries, yogurt, fruit, delicious coffee, prosciutto and mozzarella. The B&B location is perfect. Walking distance to the train/bus station. Close to the historic district and many restaurants. Giovanni was helpful with restaurant advise and gave us a detailed map. He also looked up bus times as we needed and made reservations when we asked. I recommend Casa del Brodo for dinner, but you will need a reservation. I also recommend Le delizie di Cagliostro, where we did not need a reservation. If you are looking for a day trip from Palermo, head to Cefalu. Beautiful little town!

Highly recommend staying at Panormus! Truly enjoyed our stay!

“Great location and a lot of good advice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

We were not sure where the best area was to stay in Palermo but Panormus turned out to be a very good choice. The B&B is very well located 5 minutes walk from the main station, walking distance from many of the main attractions, and buses are close-by (including an aeroport bus). At night the area though is a bit dead.
The rooms are very nice with an art deco style. One thing that could be improved is the bathroom: it is ok that they are not in the room but they have a feel of a boarding school bathroom.
Breakfast was good - homemade cake everyday and flexibility with the time
The best part was the owner who gave us plenty of good advice for restaurants and gelaterias, even recommending us what to take on the menu. He is very helpful and really made the difference.

“Good for a stop-over”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

The B&B owner, Giovanni, was excellent, and made us feel very welcome, and did everything to make our stay as easy as possible. I think this can make a big difference when there are so many average B&Bs. However, it is also very nicely decorated and maintained B&B. Very clean and cool. It is the top floor of the building. We wanted this for a one-night stop over, to get the bus from the train station the next morning. It is a few minutes to the train station for the bus to the airport, and that was excellent for us. It also isn't too far to get into the sights of Palermo, should you wish to do that (but I shan't leave my thoughts on Palermo in this review!). The only real drawback is that the bathrooms are separate to the bedroom. This is an inconvenience if you like to just 'pop' to the bathroom, but is fine for an overnight stay. Having said that, it is really good value to stay there, and if I was forced to stay in Palermo for longer than one night, I wouldn't want to pay more than I did, so certainly worth considering if you're on a budget, want a nice place, but don't care about your private bathroom not being in your room. Wifi there is easy and fast, if you need that kind of thing. TV not so great.

Thank you to have recommended my b & b.
Some clarifications to the readers:
The b & b Panormus is located in a historic building, all rooms have beautiful vaulted ceilings and antique floors;
I did not build the private bathrooms inside the rooms to preserve the architectural elements.
I think that everything that is antique and that describes the story of a place should be preserved by any means.
It's important to note that the bathrooms are all private (5 bathrooms for each of the 5 rooms), and also that I provide guests with slippers and bathrobes that can be used out of the bathroom to go to the room.
The basis of my job is transparency, I always inform in advance the customers that the private bathroom is not inside the room, so I can't understand a guest that booked the room well knowing it in advance and, after the stay, he describes this as a drawback .
I catch the opportunity also to inform the readers that now I have equipped all the rooms with large size LCD TVs.
The excellent position of the b & b (we are in the center of the historic center) and our services (air conditioning / heating, television, frige, free wi fi, lift, excellent soundproofing of the rooms, safe box, parking, daily cleaning of rooms and bathrooms, provision of bathrobes, towels, slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste, shower cap), they guarantee enjoyment of a long stay.
Best regards
Giovanni

“Great way to experience the historic center of Palermo!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2011

We stayed at Giovanni's B&B Panormus twice during our honeymoon in Sicily (3 nights upon our arrival in Palermo and two nights before heading back home). We had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend this B&B for anyone who wants to stay in the historic center of Palermo. The B&B is on via Roma, literally 10 minutes walking distance from all of the major historical sights and about 300m from Piazza Giulio Cesare, where the the buses arrive from the airport. It is extremely easy to find. The B&B is situated on the rennovated 5th floor (with elevator) of a historic Liberty Style building. Giovanni has taken great care to ensure that the original charm was preserved during the rennovation (original floors, ceilings etc.), and to furnish all of the rooms in the Liberty style. The rooms are large, quiet and air-conditioned. Each room has its own private bath (with a key for locking it when you leave), although these are located outside the bedrooms. This was not really an issue for us because Giovanni kindly provides each guest with a bathrobe for going to and from the bathroom to your room. Breakfast in the morning is abundant with lots of choices: yogurt, fruits, cheeses and prosciutto, as well as pastries and cakes which are made fresh daily by Giovanni and Margherita. Yum!

All of this being said, the highlight of our stay was getting to know Giovanni. His enthusiasm for the city and his in-depth knowledge of what to see and where to eat really helped to give us a great taste of a genuine Palermo. Definitely ask him where he likes to eat pizza...you won't be sorry :)

Thank you Giovanni for making the start and end of our honeymoon truly special! We will be back!
