“Excellent experience”

Recently my husband nd I stayed at your hotel for just one night and regretted that it was not longer. We had a lovely room that was spotless. Moreover, everything worked. We appreciated the well stocked refrigerator. The gentleman on the desk who checked us in also provided us with three restaurant choices for dinner. The one we selected was excellent. We had one of the best meals of our entire stay in Sicily. We also took advantage of the bar and had a drink and a very nice selection of hors d'oeuvres for a modest price. The salon is beautifully furnished. As well, breakfast food selection was excellent and the staff attentive but not intrusive.

Altogether we had a very enjoyable stay and we will stay at the Hotel Plaza Opera should we visit Palermo in the future.

“Perfect Hotel for Palermo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

This is a very well positioned boutique hotel with lots of stylish touches. The staff are excellent and friendly. Germana, at reception, deserves special mention for her excellent advice on restaurants and her help in getting us tickets for Tosca in the Teatro Massimo. Breakfasts were delicious. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Palermo's historic attractions and its upmarket shopping. There are lots of interesting restaurants near the hotel. Will definitely return.

“オーバーブッキング!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

“Great location and great staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

We stayed here the first night of our 10 day Sicily trip. After barely making our connection flight from Rome to Palermo, we arrived exhausted (from running through the airport!) and were suprised to be upgraded to the Agata suite. The suite was huge- spa tub/rainshower, separate bathroom, separate living room and huge terrace. The room was very clean and modern, as was the rest of the hotel. The bed was so comfortable (compared to most Europen hotels) that we ended up sleeping 14 hours and missed breakfast completely (so I can't comment on that!). The hotel was an easy walking distance to some of the main Palermo sites. We easily walked to the Quattro Canti, Teatro Massimo, the Cathedral and more. The hotel staff was very nice, good with directions, and recommended a nice place to eat dinner around the corner. If you are renting a car, note that this hotel is only about 4-5 blocks from the Hertz on Via Messina. We didn't plan that, but it was a nice bonus so we didn't have to rent a car the first day- we just walked to pick it up on the second day on our way out of the city. The hotel staff watched our luggage while we went to get the car and even helped us bring it out. The only reason I'm not giving this hotel a 5 out of 5 is because, like one of the other reviewers, there was a strange smell in the Agata suite. It smelled like a dead animal or garbage, but wasn't noticeable once the Air Conditioning came on, only after you hadn't been in the room for a while and there wasn't air circulation, it smelled for 5 minutes or so until the room cooled down. A/C worked great for us!

Room Tip: Not sure how we got upgraded, but ask if an upgrade to the Agata Suite is available!

Dear guest,

Thanks a million for your review!

We’re just so happy that you enjoyed your stay at Hotel Plaza Opéra so much and that you appreciated our hotel location, our standards of service, our staff and their courteous and helpful attitude.

We’re also very happy you loved our Agata suite, and that you found its amazing combination of modern design, comfortable features and stylish details so welcoming – making a stay in our property as pleasant and enjoyable as yours is the greatest achievement for us!

As to your reporting an unpleasant odor when entering the room, we’ve already found a solution to it, to completely eliminate that – we’ll be looking forward to having you as our guest in our property on your next trip to Palermo in order to verify this in person with a new stay in the Agata suite!

Kind regards,
Giulia Briguglia

“Find another hotel.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

We took an impromptu trip to Palermo for the weekend, and since our first choice hotel was booked (Hotel Principe di Villafranca - I believe a sister chain), we decided to stay/book here. We arrived at 1030 in the evening and were so far happy w/ the look of the hotel, boutique/modern and inviting. The front desk staff were courteous throughout our stay.

We stayed in the Agata Suite, and upon arrival to our room, we were greeted w/ an awful stench and a poor working A/C unit in the bedroom. We notified the front desk immediately and since it was late at night, they didn't do anything but spray w/ room spray and say they'd check the A/C in the morning (which they never did). The suite is fairly big for European standards and has a minibar that is complimentary w/ the room stay. The parking garage is also complimentary for those who have a suite. The bathtub/rainshower combo was nice, but the bathing area was dirty and moldy. I doubt housekeeping even really cleaned our bathtub/shower area b/c when we'd return it was still wet, w/ everything still in the same place we left it. Our robes weren't even changed. The room looks like it has been through a flood w/ raised, discolored floorboards and baseboards. I'm glad I only had to endure the stay for 2 nights, any longer and I would've switched hotels. The breakfast was included but nothing fancy in the least, it was enough to nourish us for our days out. Otherwise, this hotel is in an excellent location, near Teatro Politeama, and near restaurants including McDonald's. It is also w/in short walking distance to a busy/well-known shopping street, Via della Liberta.

Dear guest,
thank you for your review.

We'd first of all like to thank you for highlighting all the aspects you enjoyed about our property, as the hotel look and atmosphere, the politeness and friendliness of our staff and the property location.

We're sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay in our suite, one of our two exclusive luxury rooms decorated with top international design features and original antiques and where a whole series of additional service s such as parking, minibar, ecc, are included as complimentary in order to improve guest experience.
What we have learnt from our Interviews with the room division staff, is that the suite was, as all other rooms, completely cleaned and tidied up every day, probably in such a professional manner that you did not even notice anyone had moved your objects in order to do so. As to the robes not being changed, please note that, as per the instructions you had in your bathroom, any bathroom linen which is regularly hanged and not left on the floor will not be changed in line with our environmental impact reduction policies.

We believe that our standards of cleanliness, room upkeep and maintenance are what allows us to consistently deliver a successful stay experience and as you may notice from other reviews, other guests report a totally different experience than yours, in the very same room.

We'd also like to ensure we will be attaching the greatest relevance to your reporting an unpleasant odor in the room and verify this is promptly eliminated.

We'll be looking forward to having you again as our guest.
Kind regards,
Giulia Briguglia
