“You get what you pay for in Palermo”

Just finished two nights at this hotel. The hotel has a lovely balcony with a view of the city and a decently stocked bar on the lounge. Breakfast was nice on the terrace. Avoid the cold and rubbery eggs though. Service was good and staff always pleasant. Good price for Palermo and easy location to the train station. We chose this hotel due to its proximity to station as we had bicycles. There are no storage provisions at the hotel and we were directed to leave them in a dark corner of a local garage. Security of the bikes was a concern and added some severe anxiety about them during our stay. The bikes were intact however when we arrived to pick them up. The room was quite large. The lovely wooden floors could use a good scrubbing as my feet were blackened walking from the shower to the bed. The worst experience concerning our room was that it was directly underneath the kitchen and starting at 0600 there was a cacophony of noise that made it impossible to sleep. If you want to awaken that early on holiday, no problem, but given that Sicilian dinners typically run till 1030 pm (minimum), it is quite early. A different room or a noise canceling device would help the issue. As this was an inexpensive option perhaps you could invest in a set of earplugs.

“Good location”

We love the locationa of this hotel. Just in the middle of everything to see in Palermo
It has a beautiful roof terrace where you can have breakfast and a drink at night.
The room clean and perfect size.
The only but is that they don´t have parking so you have to leave your car in the street (but is safe)

“Good value, good location; noisy!”

We rented an apartment for a couple of nights to kick off our tour of Sicily.

The apartment was spacious with two double rooms, one had a kitchenette and a shower room off it. The kitchenette was pretty basic with a fridge, hob, a few pans and knives. It would have been helpful to provide a sponge/cloth, washing up brush, tea towel etc. There wasn't really enough to cook a proper meal but we had all we needed for dishing up some of the most delicious swordfish caponata from the local market.

The shower was OK (tiny) and came close to flooding a couple of times but was adequate. The bed was large and comfy. The second bedroom had a dining table and chairs. The apartment was clean enough but definitely not spotless.

It was lucky that there was a second bedroom as if we'd had to sleep in the street facing room we would have had no sleep at all. Returning from dinner after midnight (it was a Friday night) we couldn't believe the crowds! Hundreds of people milling around, drinking, chatting, a few sat on our doorstep. It wasn't at all intimidating and if I wasn't so tired I might have joined in (there are a couple of tiny bars serving drinks, so the main action is out on the street), but wow, the noise!

We slept in the back room but even so the noise permeated through. Luckily we worked out that by turning the air con on high, it helped to drown out the noise from the street and so we were able to sleep. The downside being that we woke up at 5am freezing! Luckily the street party had stopped by then and we were able to get some peace and quiet...

This apartment is in a great location and the staff in the next door hotel were friendly. It's great for a budget choice and I'd stay again but not over a weekend.

“Wonderful hotel, very affordable”

Our stay was in late November, so we received a discounted rate, and for the money we paid, we couldn't have gotten better service. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful, the breakfasts are great, the location is perfect. I would highly recommend, and hope to stay there if I'm in Palermo again.

“Winter Warmer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

Date of visit - December 2011
This was a return visit & we were greeted like royalty.
Very friendly and professional staff act as if they enjoy their work and enjoy caring for their guests.
Very proactive & e-mail responsive reception staff arranged a fixed price airport cab meet - most convenient.
Reception paid off cab who had no change for us, and put it on the bill.
Free LAN internet connection - reception supplied the cable.
Housekeeping done whilst we were absent throughout the week and we're not morning people.
Delicious breakfast on roof on warm winter's day a delight.
Bus stop outside, bus tickets (from tabacchi) bought opposite. Stazione Centrale 5mins walk.
Shops, restaurants and night life (if younger than we are) on doorstep.
Spacious room and large bathroom with a big shower cubicle. No need to trip over our two checked suitcases lots of space for them.
Highly recommend & definitely will return. (A & R)
