We spent four nights at San Paolo. This hotel provided a welcome respite from the chaotic city centre of Palermo. Our 11th floor room had a view of the sea, and the view from the rooftop swimming pool is spectacular, with the sea in front and the mountains behind.
Our room was spacious, with a security safe and a well-stocked mini-bar.
San Paolo is about a 20-minute walk from the old town – admittedly not for the faint-hearted after dark. The hotel provides a shuttle to and from Piazza Politeama in the modern part of the city every hour, until 8 p.m. There is a regular bus service passing by that goes to the central station.
The hotel has a well-equipped gym. The drinks are reasonable in the bar, and the bar staff were very friendly. The breakfast was excellent, with an unlimited selection of fruit, yogurt, cold meats, cheese, scrambled eggs, cereals, pastries and bread.
Taxis from the city centre are expensive: 15 to 20 euro, even though it is only about 1.5 km. There are two very good restaurants near the hotel, where we had dinner on two nights.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Palermo during the summer, as the pool provides a welcome place of rest after a day’s sightseeing.

If you have a chance to avoid this place - do so!

We paid € 110 per night, found a hotel in shabby 80ies style, with a literally rotten bath mat in the room and extremely unhelpful staff at the reception desk (they are unable/unwilling to explain something on the map, ask questions like "What is your problem" when guests ask details about the invoice etc.).

This hotel is clearly not worth the money they charge.

As the descriptions say - its a business hotel - not personal or intimate.

The rooftop pool is nice with good views and the bar/restaurant are good, but not spectacular.

The location is poor. Its about a 20-25 min walk from the centre of Palermo, but it is not a pleasant walk. Again it seems to cater for the business visitor as opposed to tourists.

Having said that, if its somewhere clean to rest your head at night that you are after - this will do nicely!!

Nice hotel with nice rooms, nice lobby, beautiful top floor restaurant with good food. However, the surroundings are not nice, The hotel has a navette (mini-bus) that takes you to downtown Palermo every hour (except Sundays and holidays). This is good because taxis in Palermo are not cheap, The hotel has DSL internet at the lobby.
Palermo is not a beautiful city and it is dirty. However, the people are nice and the island of Sicily is beautiful.
