Pro: Modern hotel with amenities in good condition, big room, good breakfast, great view to the bay and port from the room, free parking.
Con: poor surrounding, too far from city center, non-comfortable pillow, bad bus connection

I was really keen to find a hotel with a pool as a break from sightseeing in Palermo. The San Paolo Palace has a great rooftop pool and everything else you could want from a modern hotel including 24 hour reception, on-site cash machine, multilingual staff and extensive buffet breakfast. We stayed in two different rooms and both rooms were clean, spacious and well equipped with good airconditioning, mini-bar and room safe. It hasn't got a great deal of character but everything worked and staff were friendly and helpful.The downside is the location as it is about a 20 minute walk to Palermo centre along the fairly busy coastal road but we didn't mind and once we got the hang of the buses/shuttle it was even better. Plus there is free parking for those with cars. There are a few local restaurants, shops etc but these are much quieter than in town. So don't expect downtown Palermo charm but if you want a modern base with a pool and parking, it's great.

I stayed in three different hotels during my Italy trip, and this was by far the best value among them. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom looked new and well-maintained. The lobby was large, open, and comfortable, and the folks at the front desk were courteous and willing to help. The complimentary breakfast was varied and tasty.

The hotel is on the sea front a mile from the railway station on the road east out of town and is a little out of the town centre. The hotel is seemingly very new as they still are in the process of developing the conference centre. The rooms themselves were very spacious and the breakfast was enjoyable. The outdoor pool on the roof was manned with a lifeguard and everything was very clean and well organised.
