It was our first night of three at this hotel at the beginning of a Sicilian tour.
How beautiful and grand the hotel must have been in the past. No longer
Our first room was on Via Roma, very noisy if window left open , no air conditioning, leaking toilet, a very large tired room. Beds were good. Reception staff on arrival had attitude.
On complaint in the morning a delightful receptionist changed our room which was cleaner and brighter and toilet did not leak.

Breakfast was laid out for the fit. Nothing had any sequence as one would expect. Again the grandeur of the past was so obvious but every thing is so so tired and needs so much money spent.

The situation of the hotel was excellent.

A great hotel in Palermo, I cannot believe someone would rate it poorely! It is a stone interior with great finishing touches! Only negative is no pool... Good sized rooms and everything about it is just fine.

When we checked in to the hotel, they made us wait for almost 2 hours, and it's not an early check in..!! When we arrived, they told us to wait about 30min, which was fine. But after 1 hour, they still asked us to wait.. until I was run out of patience. The attitude of the front desk was terrible, as if they did not care that we're waiting in the lobby. Not even an apology nor a glass of refreshments were given.

Finally we complained to the manager, and within 15min we were taken to the room. It was still messy, but we waited in front of the room for about 10min until they settled all things out. We asked for a complimentary service for the 2-hours of waiting.. and all we got was a very small package of regular chocolat. What a disappointment...

Other than the messy check-in, the location of this hotel is great, most of the city attractions are within walking distance from this hotel.

The room is spacious, with old style decoration. We have a room with the street view, but it was not noisy. It was clean too..

The breakfast was just a regular one.. It was okay..

In overall, it would be a great hotel if only the staff are well-educated in how to treat customers in difficult situation..

We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights at the end of a 3 week trip. I was looking for a little luxury but was sadly disappointed. For the same price as the other couple, we got #348, a small interior room that when the windows were opened (both the air conditioning and the fans had been turned off for the season) looked directly into a another room across the way. The other couple got #326, a corner room which was much larger and had a front street view. I felt cheated.

Most of the staff seemed disinterested or bored. there were no smiles or, in the breakfast room, even an attempt at service. There, one had to make many attempts to get the sole waiter's attention to request coffee on one of their infrequent appearances. When we informed the front desk that we had to catch an early flight and would not require breakfast, they refused a refund. Fair enough but there was no coffee waiting for us or any other consideration. I never did see a concierge. It's a four star hotel with one star service.

The carpets were badly worn and dirty, the wallpaper in the halls scuffed and peeling and the window frames in our room desperately need attention. Does anyone in this hotel really care about it?
