“Great location hotel”

I enjoyed this hotel. The room was very spacious and clean. Very good bed with an excellent matress. The bathroom was quite large. The room had a flat TV and a safe box. Breakfast was excellent. The can made you a capucchino or expresso if you request it :)
The entrance to the hotel is a little bit hidden, it is on one side of the building to the basement level.

“The whole package”

Great location, practically center of Palermo, walking distance to all kinds of shops, clothing, shoes, restaurants and cafes. Excellent service and courteous staff, and a big draw is the price of a room. Simply affordable.

Palermo, Sicily is a revelation. It has magnificent medieval sites such as Cathedral, the last of the Norman treasures on a hill. Food is a mecca for foodies who like food so savory and yummy. The pastries are to die for. I recommend this city and this hotel to visit.

“Great hotel”

We booked this hotel after reading about it on tripadvisor and we were glad we did. This is a very nice and clean hotel worth its 4 stars. The staff was very friendly and we even got a free upgrade to a suite after talking to the receptionist about our plans to do a round trip of Sicily.
We stayed there twice at the beginning and end of our trip.
Highly recommended

“Good value”

Before settling into my apartment, I reserved a room at the Hotel Garbaldi for one night. The hotel was relatively inexpensive, located in a central area of town (right across from the Piazza Politeama) and the rooms were large (especially by European standards), nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. I also found the front desk staff to be very welcoming.

In my mind, the only big drawback was that, unless one uses the provided ethernet, the internet doesn't work. (Further, the internet isn't free - I paid five euro.) Another drawback was the view, but as I wasn't looking for a room with a view I wasn't troubled by the somewhat dismal vista.

I enjoyed the buffet breakfast, but would remind visitors that the buffet is located in two rooms, not one (if a kindly staff member hadn't pointed this out to me, I would have overlooked the second room). Also, remember to order a cappuchino (delicious!) as the coffee, as previously noted, wasn't all that great.

“Palermo Taxis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

It is a good idea to book a taxi from the airport over the internet before you leave home. You will get a fixed price and not have to worry about being charged excessively and the man meets you in the arrivals hall. It may even be a good idea to book from a company over the internet for rides while you are in Palermo. We asked the hotel desk at Hotel Principe di Villafranca in Palermo to book us a taxi to take us to the railway station for the first train on a Sunday morning and when the taxi arrived, we were told the fare was 50 Euros!!!! We only had to go about 4km. There was no choice we had to pay.

Room Tip: Some bathrooms are bigger than others. It is hard to bend over in the shower in some rooms.
