After reading good reports about this hotel we booked ourselves a room, we arrived quite late in the afternoon so it's location near the ferry was quite convenient. The parking was an issue, we had to initially park two blocks away and walk with our luggage to the hotel. On arrival at the reception we were greeted by a very unhelpful young woman who basically snatched my booking form and passports then threw the key at me. When I asked about the secure parking which we had requested it turned out that access to it was round the block but at least we had somewhere off the street. When we got to our room we almost turned around and walked out, the room was dark and dingy, the carpet was filthy, the walls had wall paper that was peeling off and it was smelly, the shower was mouldy. One could ask why we didn't complain - well approaching the young woman at reception was not really an option so we decided to stay put and leave first thing the following morning. We had breakfast before we left and actually dealt with a very pleasant woman who took our coffee order. On checkout we dealt with a different person on reception, an older woman who was incredibly surly, no smiles, no thank you, nothing!! When we asked her to open the garage door her reaction was incredible, anyway we got to the entrance of the garage she had not opened it so I had to go back and ask again. A thoroughly unpleasant experience at this hotel.
