near the train and bus stations so excellent for travelling out of catania on day trips but it is a 15 to 20 min walk into the centre for a choice of evening meals. we ate at primo piano 3 times - as only 5 mins away and good food at reasonable prices. the area is really not that bad although there are some streets and areas of catania which are not that pleasant - just be guided by the advice of the hotel receptionists - who were v good, especially Francesco, who was a marvel - and you'll be fine. room was good - but do ask for rooms overlooking the courtyards, NOT the street. The two outstanding things were the breakfasts and the flower filled courtyards - so quiet and peaceful and welcoming in the mornings and after a hard day's sighteeing. highly recommended but make sure the location is right for you. by the way, no bar.
