Stayed for 2 nights. Our room (301) was very nice. The lobby is a comfortable space and the staff was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. The hotel is not on a great looking street, but it was quiet and safe and a relatively short walk to most of the major attractions and restaurants. It was fun to wander about the fish market and to have lunch in one of the restaurants there.

'Liberty' means 'art deco' as translated in Catania. This small, business-travellers' hotel is beautiful restored with both original and beautifully-wrought reproductions of the art deco period. Service was excellent. The location is difficult to find without GPS, but is within convenient walking distance of local sights and shopping. We were well looked after by the attentive and helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent. The only glitch was an incompatibility between the hotel's Wi-Fi and our iPad (the only such problem during a 3 week trip). But they generously gave us access to hotel machines when we needed access.

Loved the Art Deco atmosphere and attention to detail. The lovely Francesco and Francesca were engaging and always ready to help. Both gave good tips about what to see and where to eat. Make sure you have arancini at Savia - yummo!! Would highly recommend.

Chosen because it is among the closest hotels to Catania's chaotic airport, it proved to be satisfactory for a brief stay-clean well-appointed, and adjacent to the colorful street charcoal grilling butchers of that section of Catania. They offer all kinds of grilled meats-especially horsemeat. If you can ignore the shabby surroundings and mountains of trash along the streets, the smell of the grilling meat is enticing. Wish we had been brave and tried some.
About 20 Euros by taxi to the airport is a bargain-since the hotel is hidden in the old section of town and hard to find. My GPS on the trip in from Messina went beserk as usual in the old town sections of Italian cities.
