We arrived at midnight, and were greeted by name (I guess we were the last ones on the arrival list), this was very welcoming. The receptionist spoke perfect English and was very friendly.
Our room was perfect! Very stylish, with an enormous balcony (more like a terrace). There was free wi-fi, and free minibar (drinking water and soft drinks like Coke and Fanta).
Breakfast was great - fresh orange juice, wonderful pastry, delicious cheese and ham, and much more. Didn't like their coffee though. Don't drink the american coffee that is on the buffet, ask the waiter for a capuccino or espress or whatever you like - it's also included in the breakfast price.

The reception was very helpful in giving directions and recommendations. They helped us choose and Etna day tour, and we were completely satisfied. Also, they printed train and bus timetables for us and advised where to go and what to see. Very helpful.

Do not use the city taxi, it is much more expensive than the hotel driver. If you want to go to the airport, go with the hotel driver. It costs only twenty five Eur, and it is quick and safe, and reliable.

We had a great time at Katane Palace Hotel. They have a restaurant that was mentioned in the Michelin red guide, but it was expensive and didn't look much attractive.

The location is convenient, but it's a short walk to the centre. Be very careful in the sidestreets, they all look the same and it's very easy to get lost.

Wonderful hotel in the very centre of Catania.
Breakfast is terrific (with fresh orange juice). There is a Michelin restaurant at the hotel.
Location is very convenient, it's only a short walk to the main attractions.
Reception staff speak perfect English and are very helpful with itineraries, direction and so on.
Catania tip - do not use the city taxi. It's extremely expensive To get from/to the airport, use the hotel driver. This service costs only 25 Eur, and I paid 37 to the taxi driver.

“Adequate hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

For a 4 star property, this hotel is perfectly adequate. The location is central within Catania, however the address shown on the hotel website and booking confirmation was incorrect causing our GPS to take to the wrong place - not good at night in an unfamiliar city. However, once we found the hotel, checking in was done efficiently. Free car parking under the building was VERY tight and only allowed about 6 or 7 cars at any given time. After that it was on the street where the risk of a parking ticket (fine) is very real - we got caught once. The breakfast was what we had come to expect in properties in this bracket but over the 10 days we were there, it never varied in any detail. Staff at breakfast were not good, talking on a mobile phone whilst clearing tables for example. Coffee was served cool (not hot). The rooms were reasonably spacious and clean. Free mini bar consisted of water and a couple of soft drinks.

Room Tip: Try to get rooms in the "700" range. they are bigger for the same price.

“Very Friendly Staff - Rooms Clean, Very Impressed Overall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We didnt find Catania to be a very clean or interesting town, but had to stay there for a stop-over for 2 nights as our flights were in and out of Catania ariport. Stepping into the hotel was like stepping into an oasis, airconditioning, friendly smiling staff . The rooms were spotless and tidy, and room service very efficient. The staff did alot to help us, holding and storing our luggage, finding a lost key, helping iwth mapas and directions etc.

Thought it was a nice touch that they included free water and soft drinks in the mini-bar, as it was boiling hot and not much open over the August holiday season.

One of the negatives is that the TV only has 1 English channel, and there is no pool or gym facilities at the hotel.

We paid 99euros per night including brakfast which was a very good price and overall very good value for money. Definitely recommend it - oh an dont forget to try the delicious Aranchini in Sicily- the best in the world!

Very nice staff, always a smile on their faces, cosy and warm room, with a balcony. Good choice of food at breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice was a nice touch. Free parking, free minibar, what more could you wish !
