My partner & I choose this hotel off the net and being our first visit to Sicily we felt it was going to be pot-luck as to our choice well we were thrilled with it. This is a perfectly located clean and excellent hotel in the heart of a vibrant and architecturally beautiful area of Catina. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean and & its magical to view passing life from the balcony. The staff and management are a perfect reflection of the helpful over all attitude of the people who tried to understand our needs despite the language barrier that existed.
There are some particularly excellent fish restaurants all in easy stroll and of course the bustle & excitement of the early morning fish market is something every visitor should experience.
We loved the night life & felt totally secure as we walked and sat outside on the many squares that are the hub of night-time activity.
We would highly recommend Hotel Savona which we enjoyed for a week to all but the infirm who would find the absence of a lift a climb too far.... in short a great value choice.

Nice little hotel just of the main square by the cathedral in Catania. The rooms are a good size and clean. Ours looked onto the main street. The a/c worked really well which was a welcome relief to the heat. Staff were nice and friendly.
Catania itself is a beautiful city definitely worth visiting. The architecture is amazing. There are some great places to eat and some cool nightlife in some hidden squares. Just have a wander and you'll stumble upon some great places.

I was passing through Catania and stayed for a night at the Savona. The price was right, the room excellent and the location superb. Other reviewers have complained about the stairs but I found them about the same as other urban Italian hotels that don't have lifts.

A really nice surprise.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, if slightly gloomy in the decor. The room had everything one needs and was well equipped with all the basic necessities. The breakfast was adequate and the staff were efficient if not especially friendly. It was easy to reach, late evening, from the airport, which was what we needed. Although our room overlooked the street it was double glazed and the street was not noisy at night. Air conditioning was fine.

Not a hotel to fall in love with, but they are not in that market. Ideal for a night or two's stop-over, probably en route to or from airport.
