Domus B&B is one of those great places you stumble upon by sheer luck and then spend your time wishing you were staying longer. Domus is billeted as an Italian B&B and a handful of languages are spoken there, but little of it is English. Most of the guests we met spoke Italian and at least one other language other than English, like French or Spanish. But I found that most Sardinians don't speak much English anyway so its not that unusual on the island (I don't speak any Italian). Be prepared with some basic Italian phrases to help others help you or travel with someone who speaks the language.
At Domus, it was amazing to find that even with the lack of a common language, the host and hostesses answered every question I had - through a combination of expressive gestures, a really helpful map, lots of smiles and nods, a few words (like welcome) and bend-over-backwards friendliness and helpfulness.
There is a normal flight of stairs to the first floor but no elevator, and the rooms branch off from there, all on the same floor. The kitchen and breakfast alcove are lovely and breakfast was a delightful help-yourself smorgasbord of yoghurt, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, biscuits, cake and toast, all freshly made by a wonderful older lady who smiled a lot. When we arrived in the morning, our room wasn't quite ready but they were so apologetic about it and we were encouraged to sit down and put our feet up. The room had an original ceiling and was very clean and neat, but what we liked best was that we had our own bathroom with all-day hot water, a big picture window, air conditioning and a TV with MTV music channel. There is no curfew, the safety was top-notch and you get your own keys too. Domus B&B is very close to the station and to the buses that go to the beach so you don't have to walk far in the heat, but at the same time its far enough away that you don't hear the noise of the port/terminus.
The place and the people really make your stay enjoyable and they were great to us! I will definitely be a return visitor!
