I let my niece make the reservation, assuming she'd think of location. She didn't. The hotel is not close to the center of things, so you are always walking back and forth, spending money on cabs or buses or hanging out somewhere just so you don't have to go back. This hotel has a seminar or business meeting every day, so the lobby is frequently full of non-hotel guests. The restaurant they listed is closed for renovation. And while there are a few decent restaurants within walking distance, it is a long way to the good ones. The staff were pleasant, but I think they are more happy with business travelers than vacationers. No pool. No outdoor spaces. The internet only works in the lobby with a 3 euro per hour charge.

If you are going to Cagliari for vacation, I would stay in the center and not in this hotel.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, and the satelite television on offer was the best I have seen anywhere. It was very conveniently located on the bus lines with fabulous views of the Marina.

We were invited to a wedding that was held in the Basilica immediately behind the hotel and we stayed at the Mediterraneo for four nights.
Although the hotel was built in the 1960s the hotel itself has been remarkably well maintained. Well tended plants surround the secure and free car park while a friendly greeting awaits you upon arrival in reception. The air conditioned rooms are comfortable and although the view over the harbour isn't breath taking it is pleasant with plenty of marine activity. The double glazing is very effective and cuts out all of the street noise. We took a combined museum/ bus ticket when we explored Cagliari and caught a bus from outside the hotel into the city. Really good value if you plan the day well; although the National Archaeological museum is not covered it is still worth visiting. As mentioned in other reviews the hotel breakfast is excellent, it really sets you up for the day - and the chocolate cake really is something to write home about.
Really pleasant and helpful staff. If we were to return to Cagliari I would happily stay here again.

My wife and I only spent one night at this Hotel recently and found the location a little out of town although it could be reached by walking . The staff were very helpful, however the highlight of this Hotel was the brilliant, yet simple, salads from the lobby bar and the worlds best chocolate cake served with breakfast. The room was a bit tired but served it’s purpose. I believe the interiors are in need of a make-over but we enjoyed our stay.
