“Considerate staff, convenient location and comfortable rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2009

We were invited to a wedding that was held in the Basilica immediately behind the hotel and we stayed at the Mediterraneo for four nights.
Although the hotel was built in the 1960s the hotel itself has been remarkably well maintained. Well tended plants surround the secure and free car park while a friendly greeting awaits you upon arrival in reception. The air conditioned rooms are comfortable and although the view over the harbour isn't breath taking it is pleasant with plenty of marine activity. The double glazing is very effective and cuts out all of the street noise. We took a combined museum/ bus ticket when we explored Cagliari and caught a bus from outside the hotel into the city. Really good value if you plan the day well; although the National Archaeological museum is not covered it is still worth visiting. As mentioned in other reviews the hotel breakfast is excellent, it really sets you up for the day - and the chocolate cake really is something to write home about.
Really pleasant and helpful staff. If we were to return to Cagliari I would happily stay here again.

“Best Chocalate cake!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2009

My wife and I only spent one night at this Hotel recently and found the location a little out of town although it could be reached by walking . The staff were very helpful, however the highlight of this Hotel was the brilliant, yet simple, salads from the lobby bar and the worlds best chocolate cake served with breakfast. The room was a bit tired but served it’s purpose. I believe the interiors are in need of a make-over but we enjoyed our stay.

“Nice Hotel a little out of Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2008

My Wife and I arrived at this Hotel together with another couple. The room was very pleasant nice and clean with a Balcony however there was not a safe for our valuables, the view was of the sea but nothing spectacular and there was a duel carrigeway before it however if you closed the patio door the noise from the road disappeared completely. Our freinds room was the same as ours but it did have a stale smell of cigarettes.
Breakfast was excellent there was a good choice of cerials, fruit, cooked meats, pastries, and also Bacon ,scrambled egg,and sausage. To drink Tea Coffee and fruit drinks.
The location of the Hotel was a good 15 mins walk to the Town, but there was a bus stop at the rear of the Hotel and you could purchase a bus ticket for 1 Euro fron the Hotel reception to take you into Cagliari,or you could go the opposite way and for the same price go to Poetto beach. We found the people at the Reception to be very helpfull and spoke english very well.

“A Good Business Hotel-Viable for Some Tourists”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2007

We especially enjoyed the old core maritime neighborhoods of Cagliari. Finding a good place to stay, within walking distance of the more interesting parts of town was a challenge. The Mediterraneo was a good choice, with some draw backs. Built in the '60s, it is a well maintained and modern business hotel, with a pleasant staff and some individual architectural and design character, large and comfortable rooms, but essentially the local equivalent of a Marriott, Radisson or Hilton. A significant plus, if you have a car, is a secure outdoor parking lot immediately adjacent to the water side of the hotel (the shore line is still a couple of blocks away). The view is pleasant, but not extraordinary.

Between two busy commercial avenues and a ten to fifteen minute walk to the old harbor area, past ultra modern (and fairly boring) bank and government buildings, the location is somewhat off center. But the few comparable hotels appear to be even further away from the old town. The prices at this hotel are also a little steep for what you get. There is also a premium for a harbor view, but that is likely the quieter side.

While there, don't miss the fine old no nonsense seafood restaurants along via Sardegna (such as Al Porto and La Stella Marina).

In the morning, you can count on a better than average breakfast, and easy access to the main roads heading out of town.

“had a pleasant stay”

I took a bus from the airport to the city centre. The hotel is not that close to the bus stop; not as close as I thought, so had a hard time dragging my big luggage from the stop to the hotel. That is, of course, nothing to do with the hotel itself...
Without the suitcase, Via Roma was easily accessible from the hotel by foot.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was closed at that time for refurbishment. There are some nice restaurants nearby. The pasta I had there was superb!

I stayed in a single room (double room single use, I guessed) and the room size was just right. I was very surprised (in a nice way) to see a pair of slippers was provided. Everything was clean.

There was air conditioning in the room, which was really needed for the hot summer!

There's a cafe on the ground floor which opens until 10/10.30 (can't remember the exact time...). The cakes were delicious and it was nice to sit outdoor.

The internet connection is possible. If you stay on the first floor, you can access to it in your room. Else, you can ask for a ticket (with password on it) at the reception. I brought my laptop to the ground floor and tried to get online. However, the signal was rather weak. The receiptionist took me to the first floor and arranged a table and chairs for me to sit comfortably to get online.

I will stay at this hotel again if I have the chance to travel to Cagliari.
