Like the last reviewer we found the Villa Piras to be a real discovery. It is also real in another sense - being a family run hotel with owners who really care about their guests. We stayed at three other hotels during our time in Alghero and ( as in the case of the Alma and Angedras) for all their efficiency you couldn't help but notice a kind of faux pleasantness in keeping with a well-run business.
From the delightful owners whose Italian would put any English person at ease to the extremely helpful English speaking Sandro and Paola, we experienced a level of efficiency, courtesy and a willingness to accomodate our needs that would put some of the more expensive hotels to shame. This was by far the nicest and best value hotel we stayed in.
I know there have been comments about the coffee at breakfast but where could those other guests find croissants so soft and warm?
