“Whatever”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

Paid way too much for an "oceanview" room...which essentially was a view of a giant palm tree obstructing our view. They charge 6 euros a day per person for "Resort Fees" basically meaning use of the pool and to cover the cost of the aerobics teachers and spanish dancing lessons that no one takes advantage of. The rooms are not the cleanest. Just feels like an old tired hotel. Location was nice and the beach was as well.

“Frustrating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

We booked two rooms in Mango suites hotel through cleartrip. After booking I received a phone call from the hotel that they can at beast give me one room since all rooms are already booked. They asked me to advise cleartrip for refund. I refused with a plea that if any problem they have to advice cleartrip. I send mails after mails. Hotel at last promised that they will give an extra bed. When we reached that was also not provided. One night we squized and slept three in two beds. Next day I shift my son to other place. Cleartrip has promised to refund all my money. But that is yet to happen. Hotel was good and their staff was also nice except the manager who promised to provide three beds but did not do so. On the top of it never met me in my three days stay. All the time his staff told that he is out of the town. - Dr. Satyabrata Maiti

“Fantastic family holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2009

Went as a family with two small children (aged 4 & 5) for a week at half-term. Booked directly after finding a great deal on the hotel's web site if you went full board.

The beach is literally on your doorstep and is sandy & gently shelving making it ideal for children. Sun loungers are provided and there were always plenty free whilst we were there.

The same could be said for the swimming pool, which whilst small was immaculate and featured a separate paddling pool for toddlers.

The surcharges for pool/sun bed use were mentioned on the web site but didn't start until June so didn't apply in our case.

The highlight for us though was the food. I'd never booked full board before & was a little wary expecting a repetitive buffet. what I did not expect was a three course meal for lunch and dinner with waiter service and a menu that changed daily. Breakfast was a buffet but with a good selection that was constantly replenished. When we went out for the day they provided a lovely packed lunch as they did on the last day so we had a meal to take to the airport.

I'll agree that the rooms are a little dated and the bus trip to Alghero is not one you'll want to repeat often but otherwise this is a great hotel. The whole place is kept very clean, the staff in my experience we're all very friendly and helpful (despite my appalling attempts at Italian) and the quiet sea-side location perfect for a relaxing break with kids.

“Very average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2009

This could be a great hotel - the location, the low two-stories construction, the swimming pool, the beach just a few metres from the rooms - but still fails quite short do deliver - the place just isnt interested in trying that little harder who could make all the difference. First, the facts. The hotel is an ok sized faciliy in the bay of Capo Caccia, a lovely place 10mins by car from Alghero. The beach is ok, good for children, with a lovely pier going a long way into the sea, and just a few meters from most rooms. Nice swimming pool as well. Good sized parking, both in front of the hotel and under the pine trees in the back. The rooms are very basic (with a terrible, unusable neon rooflamp as main light - you can survive with the bed lights tough). We came late in the evening and were welcomed well enough at reception - but with a little suprise - a mandatory "card" to use the swimming pool and the beach, to be charged every day, for a week, the total expenditure came up to over the rate for one night of staying. No trace of this was present when we booked the hotel, and the issue isn't the money, but the principle - if one books an hotel at a given rate, additional costs shouldn't be hidden. Breakfast is up to 10:00am and livable; you're awakened anyway every morning at 9:30 by a loudspeaker announcing the "entertrainment" program of the day - cute but somewhat tiresome. We used the hotel mainly as a base to explore the northwestern part of Sardinia. What lets the hotel down a little is the service level - with few exceptions, people working there don't seem to be overly interested - it feels much like a tourism factory. For example, on leaving, we asked if it was possible to print out some information - the request obviously annoyed the clerk at the reception, who answered that it wasnt possible due to printer problems. A smile would have made the reason more believable. All in all, expect cheapish and basic accomodation, and a nice beach and you won't be disappointed. However, it's possbile to find much better service elsewhere in Sardinia for the same price.

“Overrated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2009

We stayed for 2 nights en route to the other side of the island. Arrived at 8.45 in the evening and was greeted by a receptionist who had no interest in us other than we appeared to be a nuisance. Made it to the restaurant just on time (closes at 9). Food was poor. Room was OK but very dated. We had paid for a sea view which was nice. Facilities in the hotel for a family are good. Nice swimming pool and good access to the sea. Location is a long way outside Alghero and while there is a regular bus service it is quite a long trip. Our overall impression is that this hotel needs to update its rooms badly. Staff on checkout at reception were much better but management should remind their staff that first impressions are very important!
