We (two couples) stayed for two weeks from 28th August until the 11th September and were very happy that we chose this hotel. We visited some of the other hotels that we had considered, and that had reasonable reviews on trip advisor, and we were so pleased we had settled on the Punta Negra. The rooms were spacious and very clean; the linen was changed every day; the hotel, grounds and pools were spotless. The food was excellent, there was an extensive starter buffet every night, and there were always at least four choices for the second/pasta course, mains and desserts. The only negative was that the shower had a curtain (the rooms and bathrooms are in the process of being renovated) but we were offered that we could move to a room with a new bathroom when one became available. Very relaxing holiday, close to the airport so no long transfers, and hotel staff were very accommodating. We would highly recommend this hotel and location, even for a shorter break. Half board is the best option if you do not have a car and we found it was excellent value for money. If you want to go to Alghero to eat/see the sights, the bus comes to the hotel reception and the cost is 5 euros for a day pass.

We stayed at the hotel for a weekend. Perfect location, 5 mins from the airport. Fantastic pool, beach not great. The town of Fertilia is a 10 min walk away with a few good restaurants. The main town of Alghero was a 15 min taxi ride.

If going to Alghero for a weeks holiday, then you may find this hotel a little out of the way and would probably prefer to be in the town. But perfect for a weekend break.

Small hotel located within a 10 minute walk from Fertilia. A Genuine authentic Italian town with no concessions to tourism. Best ice cream of the holiday - and pizza too! Hotel twenty minutes from Alghero - nice town, again not over touristy and interesting. Accessible by local bus 2euro return or coach service 'easy alghero' 8euro return or taxi 20euro return. The staff were competant and polite but not friendly. The restaurant staff had very little english. The hotel decor is dated including the room. The bathroom was terrible dark and claustrophobic. However, the sea view was fantastic. The rooms were kept very clean. The restaurant food was between average and terrible. The service on the first night was awful, 40 minutes between starter and main. The hotel was overstretched catering for a wedding and a youth group at the same time. The lunch menu was 10 things to do with ham & cheese, a bowl of fries at £6 was not good value. There was no food service after 2.30pm. Entertainment was average and planted outside our room and on one evening went on to 12.45 despite our pleas for peace and quiet. Lucky to have the world cup to watch. The pool area and pool guy were great as were our fellow guests during our week. Felt sorry for the couple who'd booked for two. Very disappointing not quite a total disaster, we both lost weight!

Pleasant staff and a clean hotel. However, 20 minute car journey from the town = 20euro. Tiny stony beach. Nice pools. Some rooms have sea view with nice sized balcony. Our room was next to the stairs and there was lots of noise from 7am. Not at all relaxing. Restaurant was more like a canteen.....poor quality food. Breakfast however was lovely. Would not recommend this hotel to a friend as it is overpriced and far away from the lovely town of Alghero. Would probably suit a family with young children as it is very secure
