The hotel staff was excellent. They went out of their way to help us to make arrangements for us to come back early as a result of an accident. The hotel itself was very clean, well serviced and very hospitable. Breakfeast was excellent. The view of the city from our room was breathtaking. We did not try the restaurant in the hotel but we did try the pizza and food at SAFARA restaurant 300 yard down from the hotel (via La Marmora) and it was unbelievable. We highly recommend both the Hotel Catalunya and the Safara restaurant.

located just a 2min walk from the old town and right beside a park, the hotel has a great location. In adition if you get the bus in from the airport, the bus stop is less than a minute away from the hotel door.
The rooms are nice and big and staff have good english. In particular the family rooms are very big. The price however is a little expensive for the time of year we travelled particulary when you consider the hotel wasn't very full.
Best is location and Least would be the price

Now, this hotel has an official 4 star rating. As other travellers have commented, that is incredible. Overall, it is not worth more than 3 as other guests also have underlined.

Stayed in a double room. AC did not work properly. Made a complaint to the reception, and they said they would look into it but with the expression in their face and tone of their voice that they would do nothing. And accordingly, nothing happened. The temperature was the same in the room as outside.

Bathrooms are small. Had to place my feet inside the shower when sitting down on the toilet.

There's no bar in the hotel. Since there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room it was impossible to order an espresso after breakfast.

Speaking of breakfast, they call it a buffet breakfast. It is nothing like that. Do not expect anything close to what you will get at a 4 star hotel in central Europe. It is purely continental and boring. For example, no hot dish.

Location in perfect though, and the hotel is among the few that are not fully booked by charter companies in Alghero. But the devil is in the details. Make it a 3 star hotel, reduce the prices, and you would get value for money.

We arrived with a reservation for a triple room with a view. We were given the key to a large triple room with NO view. When we asked if there was a room on a higher floor with a view we were intially told yes and shown one. But then we were told we couldnt have it until the next day. No sensible explanation was given. The next morning when I went to the reception desk I was brusquely handed the key to the room with the view, no offer to move luggage or any friendly words. The room was very spacious but decor was dated, the view was lovely one over the port and sea at sunset. The price was too high for the quality however. During our stay the entire staff was surly and unsmiling. It was a downer. Fortuntely Alghero is a very pleasant town and the weather was fabulous.
