We have stayed in over 20 different good Mercure Hotels in Europe and chose to stay in the Mercure in Taranto . It was difficult to find at first and we expected it to be on the outskirts of Taranto. However it is situated on a major road through Taranto and car horns seem to sound all night apart from the roar of the traffic. If double glazing existed the windows did not fit. The staff were not to the normal Mercure standard . My wife slipped and hurt herself in the bathroom, but would not make a fuss. The breakfast staff were almost rude at times and ran out of various foods. It was a great disappointment the Mercure Delfino in Taranto.

Had a problem booking this hotel, the english version of the web site said that the site was 'under maintaincce' and it still is?.
Tried the email option, but got no responce to 2 emails.
Fresh blood red orange juice was out of the world, pity about the hard bread on day 2.
A dirty/marked bed sheet was also dissapointing.
Obviously the pool was not yet cleaned out for the season and was full of discoloured green water/slime.

Hotel reception stuff were very rude and not friendly at all. Always they look annoyed and frustrated. You can not expect any hotel service you get from decent hotels such as money exchange, asking directions, etc. You can be serviced only when they are in good mood, maybe? but reluctanty. The hotel doesn't deserve the name of "Grand" and internatinal flags they put up in front.
Hotel facilities are very old and elevators are very small.
Only good thing is the waiters in breakfast time. They are friendly even thoguh they do not speak English.
