“Not the most romantic place, but ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011 via mobile

Although not very enchanting ( some small efforts could be done here) ok place to stay: clean rooms, ok beds, ok airco, nice swimming pool. Water in the shower somewhat limited and either very warm or cold. And some strange smoke from a chimney all day long. Good basis for visits of southern puglia if more romantic places are booked or too expensive.

“Stranger than paradise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011 via mobile

Fans of top gun & jail house rock, this is your place! The hotel is Between army barracks and modern infantry vehicles, close to Brindisi.
Without being the most romantic & design place on earth, it's clean, functional & the swimming pool is very nice! the breakfast is kind of conceptual but the coffee is very good and the service friendly. As a last minute booking, no regrets! A good location to travel in the area.

“AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

This "hotel" is more like an army Barack, old shoddy decor with a lovely view of either an army auto park, or the abandoned grounds.

be aware that this is not an hotel but more of a residence.

The room:

large (requested double + single bed, found 3 singles!), shoddy and unclean, AC practically insistent but the piece of resistance was the bathroom comparable only to a public toilet, the towels looked tired and have consistency of news paper; a toilet seat broken was also part of this 3 stars hotel.

Once complained to the reception the offered to move me to another room, as it was too late (2200) I refused.

I had the worst night sleeping, mattress was thin and spring could be felt, the noise from the army autopark and its constant light also helped to stay awake.

Some one mentioned that this hotel is also frequented by the local police and army (not sure why) but this not only let my wife during our short visit to the swimming pool like the only woman on the planet but this young army people stayed all night up making noises in the pool area.

Finally to add to the lovely stay the breakfast:

you can choose:
- one croissant (chocolate or strawberry)
- one coffee
- milk, some old cereal and plenty of milk, spreads

the breakfast is served in the most depressing area of the hotel with loads of fly as an accompaniment.

This must be the most horrible hotel in the area if not in the whole of Puglia.

“Recommendation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2010

I recently travelled from the Netherlands to Italy and flew into Brindisi. I was pleasently surprised by the service the B&B Hostel Carpe Diem offers.
It's really near the airport of Brindisi Casale (about 1 km), very handy when your flight is early in the morning. They offer a free shuttle to and from the airport but as it's so close the distance can be walked in 10 minutes max.
I am soon going back to Italy again and will definitelly stay at that B&B again (Why spend a fortune in expensive hotels when you can almost get a better service for a lot less?).
