“Best business hotel in Bari area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2011

I'm staying at Hilton Garden Inn Bari for one week while on business in the Bari area
I'm comuting daily to Gioia del Colle - so the Hilton's location adjacent to the highway is great for me.

This is a great Hilton. Not too big, but with many great features.
The hotel appears very new.
It's (I think), 11 floors, however there are only about 8 rooms per floor, so you aren't aware of too much noise and activity.....i.e. it's very quiet.

There is undeground or street parking
Front staff is excellent and very friendly.
My room (on the 9th floor) is beautifully designed and fully equipped.
Room features
- Safe
- Mini-bar that is empty for your own snacks (grocery store across the street and field)
- Adequate storage
- Great proper adjustable work chair
- Very high speed internet
- Two telephones
- Nice flat screen with many foreign language channels - although English channels are limited to news type
- Adjustable memory foam bed
- Free coffee, tea making in room

I found my room (in March), quite warm. I tried to reduce the electronic heating. Every time I entered the room, it was reset to 23 degrees. I reduced it to 21 degrees....as low as I could go, and shut off the fan, but the room was still too warm, so I opened the window.

Also, being a solo traveller, the clear window to the bathroom (see my pics) was not an issue, but if more than one traveller, it may be embarresing to some.

There is a nice business center with computers and a color printer, stapler, etc... (nicely equipped)
The restaurant is reasonably priced for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was very good, with some healthy choices, like fresh cut fruit, yoghurt, cereals. You can also get custom eggs, waffles, french toast, cappucino (all included in the breakfast price). If your room rate doesn't include breakfast, it's about 10 euro additional.

There is a well stocked small "pantry" store with snacks.
I used the gym several times, it has a treadmill, eleptical, bike - all equipped with flat screen and headphones. Also, a full rack of free weights and 2 workout benches. (no weight machines)

What I liked about this hotel
- The staff - all of them, were very friendly and helpful
- The design, ambienced and features, cleanliness - it all works!!
- Undeground parking feels safe
- Super design on the room
- The size of the hotel - not too big so as to be impersonal
- 100% non smoking - or it seemed, (perhaps some floors had smoking rooms?)
- Nice compact gym
- Affordable restaurant

To improve:
- The heating in the room - allow more control to lower the temperature
- Add a couple of more English channels (non-news)

Other
- The excellent WiFi has 2 levels. The free level will allow email and surfing. However in my case I needed to download files for work, so I opted for a weekly rate package with unlimited download.
- Other reviewers have commented on the location as being poor and in the middle of a suburb. You do need a car for this hotel, but there are at least 4 or 5 restaurants within walking distance. 3 of these restaurants are listed in the hotel guide. I went to "Da Giampaolo) one night (2 min walk) and it was excellent.

Conclusion:
This is my best choice for business hotel in this region.

“Beware This May be a wrong hotel if you want to relax in Puglia”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

Beware - it is a Hilton Garden Inn but not the same standard ( but still as expenisve) as other Hilton Garden Inns we have stayed in, AND it is 25 minute bus or taxi ride from Bari - buses are only 2 per hour and taxi costs 10 Euros each way. It is in the deep, uninteresting suburbs of Bari, with no other amenities nearby, other than a small supermarket Spar.
Hilton Hotel housekeeping has a lot to improve on - e.g. they lost my nightware from my room ( but glad to say they found it - returned to me smelling foul), sachet of milk in very short supply, fridge not working so had to change rooms first night, room not cleaned by 2.30 p.m, after we complained they did it in the mornings. The small outdoor swimming pool exists but on limited opening hours ( pool attendent told us it will close for lunch at 2p.m.!) and in any case, in total shade till about 11.30 am and after 3.30 p.m., so the water never really warms up.
However, one receptionist, Angela, was really nice and helpful with some other issues (there were too many things, which were just not right) and on the whole, give this hotel a miss.

“Excellent Vaue”

We stayed 2 nights. We chose this hotel based on other good reviews and the price which was much lower than other 4 star places. The room was clean, the king bed totally comfortable, the glass enclosed bathroom very interesting. The breakfast buffet had good variety and they served good coffee. We ate one dinner there. The price was very reasonable especially for a hotel. The food and service was excellent. The antipatsi buffet to start was nothing short of amazing and could have been a meal in itself, too many choices to name. Downtown (the old centro especially) is worth a day of walking about and was only a 15 minute bus ride away. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly and their English was much better than our Italian. One minor glitch was a false fire alarm (very high pitched) that went off at 1 am the first night and it took an hour to summon someone to cancel it. This was the only thing that detracted from our stay.

“Bad location and unprofessional front desk staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2008

Our stay there was disappointing.

The location is horrible. It's in the suburbs of Bari, with nothing to do walking distance. The swimming pool of the hotel was closed (not sure why). The center of Bari is about 15 minutes drive (there can be traffic).

The women at the front desk was condescending and tried every possible way to make us spend extra money. It was just unpleasant and very unprofessional, definitely not what you would expect from a hotel of this class.

2 things to know:
- it's not possible to borrow an iron and an iron board (they force you to use and pay for laundry service to get your clothes ironed)
- the bathroom opens on the rest of the room through the shower. it's nice until you realize that you can see the toilets too... weird

Other than that, the rooms are nice and clean.

“Modern design hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2008

Located in the Poggiofranco area. This hotel is a business hotel with closed parking lot.
Stayed at this hotel. Very nice rooms, with design touch.

I highly reccomend it even if downtown is quite far away, about 10 minutes by car.
