“Overall a great experience. But expensive.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed for 3 nights in July. The room was basic for the star rating, it was in need of a refurb. However - the food was AMAZING the waiters could not do more to help. Breakfast buffet is to die for! It all comes at a price - but it was really nice. My children particularly enjoyed the pool, which is very deep, and only really suited to good swimmers. It is also very quiet and the poolside area quite small so one can feel quite disruptive with small children. But overall- I would go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a newly refurbished room. We saw that some of the rooms were much better, when the cleaner h...

“Nice hotel and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

I spent with my family only 3 nights during Christmas holidays. This was our third or fourth stay in this hotel. The staff is very friendly and nice. The room was very spacious and comfortable and very clean; There is a nice park around the hotel with a car parking.

“An excellenet expression”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

Everything was fine in the hotel, from the breakfast till the fitness center.
It was really good to feel, that everybody was very helpful and nice.
The taste of the south was an undiscovered feeling for us, but you made for us a very good first experience.
To summarize, everything was excellent!!

“Absolutely Awful Experience”

Upon arrival at the Mercure Villa Romanazzi Hotel in Bari we stood at the reception desk with our bags whilst trying to get the attention of either of the two people manning reception. It took around 4-5 minutes to get their attention even though they didn't seem overly busy. When we did get one gentleman's attention he just said "Name". No welcome to the hotel, can I help you etc? Then we were asked for our passports and given a room key. That was it. No further instructions whatsoever. When we arrived in our room after waiting almost 5 minutes on the lift to arrive, we were flabbergasted at the decor in the room. It was very old and smelt quite damp. I was expecting a lot more considering this hotel was around £120 per night. We stayed for 7 nights and 4 out of the 7 nights we complained to the staff about people playing very loud music and shouting in a room next to us. Nothing was ever done about this. They just couldn't wait to get us off the phone and didn't apologize once. We asked to speak to the manager several times and we didn't get to speak to him until we were leaving. When we explained about the music being played all the time he explained that he can not do anything about what guests do in their own rooms. Surely it is the hotels responsibility to ensure that paying costumers can get a good nights sleep?

The hotel is very poorly positioned. There is nothing nice around it and the area is very run down. The pool and grounds are nice however as there seemed to be weddings on every other day, they were far from private with children running around the pool all day.

Overall, the staff are extremely rude and their English is extremely poor, the rooms are dark and dated, and the location of the hotel is extremely bad.

I would strongly recommend that you think twice when considering staying at this hotel.
