“OK but overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

This place is ok but I definitely don't agree with the hype of the other comments. Positive sides include the central location and recent renovation. Beds are also very comfortable. Now on the bad side is the decor (versace meets lady gaga) which turns an apartment with already very little light into a dark boudoir (and not in a good way). On the very bad side, is the fact that there is no sewage and the toilets run on a chemical system which makes it rather smelly when flushed. Service is ok but not overly friendly and clients get a bit the feeling they should be happy they're allowed to stay there rather than the owner is happy she has clients. Breakfast is not bad at all. There isn't loads of food but everything there was fresh and of good quality. Plenty of nice italian coffee. For this price I'd look for a hotel next time though.

“Unbelievable! The hotel was closed and we had no notice!”

Do not touch this place...ever!
We booked in all good faith a few months ago for a couple of nights passing through Bari. Received confirmation emails form the owner (Alessandro) and they even agreed to keep some luggage for us during a train trip we planned.
Arrived at the hotel and couldn't get access. It looked very closed up.
They had all my details (email, mobile phone) and we hadn't had any notification of cancelletion from them.
Resulted in us having to spend a lot of money for a room in a large hotel in the city centre. All that was available at short notice.
incredibly poor service!

“Character & Charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2010

My friend and I stayed at Casa dei Venti for two nights. This B&B is cosy and quirky, with lots of character, located within walking distance of Bari's railway station and the 'vecchia citta' (old city).

The rooms are pretty, especially if you like rich colours like purple (which I do!). The pictures on their web site are accurate. The bathroom was lovely, heated towel rack and the shower was very spacious - although oddly a bit on the dark side as the light was in the centre of the bathroom and obscured by the shower curtain.

Breakfast was good, especially the coffee! And toast made for you if you wished. There are plenty of shops and services nearby.

I don't think we met the actual owners, but Aziz, who checked us in, was very helpful to us, fixing a minor problem in the room and then saving our legs by giving us a lift in his car to drop us in Bari's old city. He was very friendly and willing to help with anything we asked for.

“Right at Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 May 2010

My boyfriend and I visited Bari for New Year's Eve. The minute I visited the website for Casa dei Venti, I decided I wanted to stay at the B&B. And then when I began communicating with the hosts Alessandro and Marina, I was 100% certain that this would be our home base for our trip. Marina and Alessandro, went above and beyond what any hotel concierge would do. Communicating with them via email, was simple and efficient. They made sure they got us exactly what we wanted from which room we preferred at the B&B, to the restaurants reservations for my boyfriend's birthday dinner and the New Year's Eve dinner party. Once we arrived, Marina and Alessandro gave us a key to the property so we could come and go as we pleased. We were made to feel right at home. They gave us their cellular phone numbers and invited us to call them for whatever, whenever. We were ecstatic to see that the room pictures on their website are exactly what you get with respect to impeccable decor, utmost in clealiness and such a warm and welcoming ambiance. The location is very central; everything is within walking distance and staying right in the city you feel like a local. The bed was comfortable, room spacious. Breakfast is served each morning in the common sitting/eating area. The night before the hosts would ask us what time we wanted breakfast and would do their best to accomodate. I'm lactose intolerant and they made sure they had soy milk just for me. There is wireless WIFI at no extra cost. But the best part about staying chez Casa dei Venti is Alessandro and Marina. Yes, the accomodations are top-notch AND location, fantastic but Marina and Alessandro really went out of their way to make sure we had an amazing time in their city of Bari. To give you an idea of the wonderful people they are: they made the restaurant reservations for my boyfriend's birthday dinner and New Year's Eve dinner prior to us even arriving in the city - both excellent recommendations; on New Year's day most restaurants/stores were closed and we had no clue what we would do for dinner, we called them and they called us back with a reservation to a restaurant for that evening; I wanted my boyfriend to try a real Barese panzerotto and Alessandro sent us to this small spot that was always packed - panzerotti were delicious; I wanted to visit the town were my dad grew up which is about 20 minutes outside of Bari - they arranged for a friend of theirs who drives a taxi to take us to the town and also give us a tour of the surrounding area; and last but not least, our flight out of Bari was cancelled, it was Saturday night 11:30pm and we had no where to go; we called Alessandro and he told us to take a cab back to Casa dei Venti. He was out with friends but we meet us there to let us in and have a place to sleep until the next morning. Again, service that is out of this world. Everything about Casa dei Venti is just perfect. I would absolutely recommend Casa dei Venti to anyone who is looking for a top-notch B&B. Well done, Alessandro and Marina. Bari is very lucky to have you two!
