My husband and I stayed at the Continental for two nights while visiting our friends who are stationed in Vicenza with the U.S. military.

The hotel was a great value, at about $80 a night. It also came with free parking. The spaces are diagonal to the side of the hotel and we never had trouble securing a spot for the night.

Rooms are very big and very modern. It was a nice change from some of the smaller rooms at other European hotels. The bathroom was also new, clean and very spacious.

Our room overlooked the soccer stadium and local stores.

The hotel is also just a short 10 to 15 minute walk to downtown and about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the train station.

We used Vicenza as a jump-off point to visit neighboring Venice. The train to Venice was just 10 euros/RT per person and was a nice scenic trip through the countryside. The ride was about an hour and 15 minutes. If you want to take a high-speed train the trip is just under 40 minutes, but the price comes in at 19 euro. Staying in Vicenza was a much better deal than paying more for a lesser hotel in Venice.

Breakfast at the hotel was probably one of the best during our entire two-week trip. The hotel had a nice variety of meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, rolls and danishes. You could even make your own espresso or cappuccino. Snacks were put out in the lobby during the afternoon hours.

We'd recommend the Continental to anyone traveling to Italy, especially people who would prefer staying in a more 'chic' hotel and not a small, older hotel or pension.

The hotel is easily found because it's near the football stadium on a prominent corner. Park at the back of hotel. After check-in, the glass of proscecco gets one in the right mood for unpacking and taking the 15 min. walk into the Centro Storico. Ask for a city map and directions at the desk. We had a good-sized corner room with a large bathroom with window. Closet space is adequate. The beds were comfortable for us so we slept very well. The breakfast room is large, just as the buffet is, with many choices for the international guest. Service is excellent and fast, making certain that the buffet is stocked at all times up to 10:00 hours. A bit of a bother was the necessity of registering the free wifi access every 24 hours instead of for the entire stay. Also, there was no desk lamp on the large desk in the room. If we return to Vicenza, we'll book here again.

The Contenental is a great modern hotel just outside the historical center of Vicenza and across from the stadium. Good choice for value!

Great value in Vicenza at this hotel. Rooms are spare but have everything you need. Spotless, air conditioning, wifi, elevator, huge bathroom. Full breakfast buffet with many choices. After 2 nights of our 4 night stay, the beds were too hard for me, so we asked if there were any alternatives. We were shown another room, much larger, where the beds were a bit softer; we packed up and the staff moved us while we were out for the day. Limited parking for cars but we were never without a spot. Would definitely return here.
