“Worst Half-Board food ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

Our trip was touring Italy with pre-paid half-board. Food was excellent in other hotels except three stays in Boscolo which were poor, with Vicenza being the worst. The half-board ingredients are either specially bought in or scraps. Example: seafood risotto starter containing only one small prawn, the seafood having been saved for "paying" customers, a 5mm thick "minute" steak well done, and tinned fruit salad left over from breakfast. Hard to believe this is a £50 meal for two. A scan of the menu revealed the budget would justify far better quality. On our third Boscolo, and last night of holiday, we asked if we could credit the prepaid voucher towards a-la-carte. This was denied. So we pretended to be external customers and paid again in full for a decent meal.

“Stay away from this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2009

Bad room, air conditioning not working, service sucks!! food is very bad and one of the worst location, stay away from this hotel. This was our third hotel in Italy and for some of my colleague the 10th, they saw better 2 star hotel in Italy. Definatly not a 4 star, even for European standards.

“Avoid at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2009

This hotel is to be avoided. I stayed there while on a business trip last week.

In summary:

The location is poor.
The food is awful. The fruit juices at breakfast are heavily dilluted. The kettles containing the coffee are not safe and one exploaded on a guest and hot coffee spilled all over them. The staff did nothing.

Avoid going to the restaurant to dinner. The service is bad, they overcharge you, for example they charged me 4 Euro extra for a hard bun which was a starter and which I did not order.

They do not take credit cards at the restaurant, despite that there are signs everywhere that they do.

Internet connection is 15Euro for a day (24 hours).
A can of coke is 5 Euro (for 330 ml).

The roooms are a decent size but dated.
There is not bath tub but only a shower.
The hotel is not 1km from the station as advertised.

Taxis that the hotel staff calls for you will cost you 30% more!!!!

The over all experience was horrendous.

Dear guest,

We are sorry that you don’t appreciate the location of the property; usually our guests appreciate it: the hotel is close to the Exhibition centre, just 1,25 km far from the Historical Centre of Vicenza and from the Train Station.

We apologize you had problems with our juices that are usually appreciated. Your feedback will help us to improve the service.

About the coffee, what happened was that a client, while holding a cup of coffee, stepped back and accidentally collided with a waitress; in the "collission" the coffee spread on the floor and on the buffet table. Another waitress intervened immediately to verify that the client had not suffered from burns.
No other customer, including those involved in the episode, complained about it.
Compliance with safety standards are an absolute priority for B4 Hotels and we always do our best to ensure that these are followed.

An entrée is usually served at the Restaurant, but it is absolutely free. If you felt that you had paid a service that you did not receive, you should have informed someone at the restaurant or at the reception and we would have surely checked with you your bill.

Regarding the method of payment, the restaurant has its own POS and credit cards are accepted and managed also from the reception. It was probably a temporary problem with the connection.

We respect also the opinion about the rooms. In the hotel there are only 7 rooms with a bathub and an early communication is requested to have a bathtub instead of a shower.

The overcharge of 30% on taxi service is not reliable to B4 hotels. The call is absolutely free.

We thank you for your opinion.
Guest Satisfaction is the top priority for B4 Hotels.
We hope you will give us the opportunity to demonstrate it for your next stay in Vicenza.

“Nice Hotel and Staff Bad Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2009

We had a nice stay here. The rooms were clean and nice and there was real air-conditioning. The staff were wonderful, kind and helpful. The front desk staff is excellent and knowledgeable. We had breakfast included in our stay and it was nice. If breakfast is not included it becomes very expensive. The mini-bar is expensive as well. The restaurant is nice and the food is very good just more expensive than I am accustomed to. Dinner for 4 was 100 Euros and that was without dessert and one child was 11. But the dinner was wonderful and a nice treat after a long day of travel. There is a self-service laundry around the corner of the hotel. the laundry is self-serve and very clean. the man there is very kind and helpful too. There is also a cigar shop that sells bottle water, sodas, powerade, juices and candy about 1 block from the hotel that is reasonable. There is a PAM store that sells groceries that is very reasonable. The only real bad thing about this hotel is its location. It is about a 20 minute walk from the train station and you do not want to be out past dark. It seems the women of the night come out and well I just did not feel say once it was dark. You can take a taxi for about 12 Euro from the train station and the bus station is about a block or so away from the hotel. During the day you are fine to walk just do not talk to anyone. There is a German restaurant about 5 minutes walking from the hotel and a nice Japanesse place about 15-20 minute walk. There is also a Donor that is reasonable and similar to Gyros. I might or might not stay here again mainly because of the hotels location.

“Truly awful food, poor location; rooms fine”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2008

Find somewhere else to stay in this pretty city. Stayed here 2 nights as part of a bicycle tour. I would never stay there again. There are problems with this hotel. Outside is run down and garden closed. From a walk along the road at night, it appears to be in a red light area. It is a mile from the city centre and not a pleasant walk.

Restaurant food is awful; don;t go there. We had a set menu with other cyclists, but those few patrons who ate from the main menu did not stay long. The first night our pork chops were still raw and inedible. The second night our main course was 4 thin slices aubergine, a few strips of courgette topped by half a tomato and thin slices of cheese; grilled. The tomato was cold. We were handed a fruit knife to peel some fruit for our dessert. Four star? We complained but the duty manager said the restaurant was under separate management. We were directed to fill in the complaint form in the room. Breakfast was poor compared with other hotels of the class.

Our room was nice, clean with good bathroom, fine for class of hotel. But overall experience not good.
