“Very good location for travelling North Italy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

Actual address is Via Fiume 14/A, San Bonifacio, Italy (~25 Km from Verona)
We reached the Hotel from the Dolomitis' panorama. The train station is near the hotel and we used it to travel to Venice and back. The next day we travelled with our car to Verona on our way to Garda Lake and Austria.
The staff were nice and helpful. The room was clean and fit all our needs. No parking problem. Nice neighborhood that helped us (personally!) to find the hotel.
Not all staff are speaking english, but we managed to communicate. The electricity plugs is non-european standard, but they supplied us with an appropriate convertor. There is no english news TV station (BBC, CNN, FOX, etc.)

“Terrible service”

We stayed at Hotel Stadio three nights ending our 10 days journey in northern Italy. We made the reservation three months in advance based on reviews here in Tripadvisor.

When we arrive to the hotel we are told that the hotel is full and that we will have a small apartment instead a few hundred meters away from the actual hotel. This came as a total surprise as we had made the reservation so early.

Anyhow the 30m2 apartment was modern, clean and had a small kitchen. We were satisfied despite staying in a totally different place than what we agreed on in the reservation mainly because of the kitchen.

The town, San Bonifacio, is nothing to see but the location is pretty good at the railway with 20 minutes to Verona and 1h 20min to Venice. The hotel is located 500m from the railway station.

We were not a lot in touch with the personnel but when we were it was really disappointing every time.

On the second evening we decided to cook dinner in the small kitchen. We noticed that the kitchen was not working. Also we noticed that there is no way to get in touch with the reception but to walk there. In the reception we hear that the kitchen is not included but they can turn on the power for a fee of 5€/day. When I was in the reception I also asked for a phone number to the reception. I was told that they'll switch it on in 5 minutes. Half an hour later I call the reception as nothing had happened. The receptionist told me he's on his way. 15 minutes later I finally get him coming with yet another call. We were hungry and tired after all the waiting.

The third and last night when we try to start the cooking plate all the lights go dark in the room. We call the reception again and the guy tells us he's coming. Half an hour later as nothing had happened again I walked to the reception to find the lazy receptionist at the computer. He comes to the room and can't fix the problem and says that it's not possible to get an electrician in the afternoon that it has to wait to the next day when we have left. I ask him what we're supposed to do with all the food we have bought, we were hungry and the kitchen in our room is not working. He laughs and says: "Heheh, the pasta can be a bit difficult to boil. You have reserved a bed and a bathroom, not a kitchen. You don't have to pay the kitchen, OK?". Then he left in the middle of my sentence. I was furious with the service. The least they could have done would have been to move us to an apartment with a working kitchen or offer us a meal at the hotel restaurant.

Next morning I went to check out and there was a lady in the reception that didn't speak english and had apparently not got the information about the problems with the kitchen. She argued with me that I have to pay for the kitchen and even called the cleaning lady to ask if we had used the kitchen. I tried to explain that we were promised yesterday that we don't have to pay the kitchen as it was not working. I was in a hurry to the train and couldn't stay there arguing any more. I paid what she asked for and left disappointed.

Now I have described the reason why I was so disappointed in the hotel I had high expectations for. In a three star hotel you can expect some kind of service.

I don't really understand why this hotel is said to be in Verona. Taxi from Verona is 50€ to San Bonifacio where the hotel is located and the train takes also over 20 minutes. I advice you to stay in the beautiful city of Verona instead even if the hotels cost a few euros more per night.

“Nice for a stop over”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

Nice place for a stop over to see Verona and other nice places around. The hotel is situated in San Bonifacio, a small town 30 km far from Verona and it is easy to find. There is a large guarded parking place. Good quality for room and service. The staff does not speak English. I recommend for a short stopover in the area.

“Wonderful Place!”

We loved staying here! We had 3 rooms and they were all lovely! We ended up arriving late and they were so kind. They kept the restaurant open for us. The rooms were so clean. Each room has tiled floors. The rooms, bathrooms, and hallways were all very clean. The car was very safe in their back parking lot. The air conditioning worked very well.
They spoke some English and were very friendly!
I would LOVE to come back here.....this would be a great place to spend some time on holiday.

“Loved everything about it”

I promised to write this great review as we were checking out the end of April and am finally doing it. Hotel and restaurant run by a 2-generation family; the sons speak English. The room was big enough and comfortable, they gave us ice every night for our martinis (!), and the food in the restaurant was fabulous. We had 24-hour wi-fi which is important to us as we did some US stock market transactions in the afternoon and the owners were very accommodating to our every request. thank you Albergo!
