“Perfect Wedding Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2006

We had an excellent stay in La Magioca for 5 nights at the begging of September. We had a civil wedding ceremony in Verona on the Saturday morning followed by an afternoon anglican blessing in the 13th century chapel on the grounds of La Magioca. The staff at La Magioca went well out of their way to be of help (even ironed the mens suits before the big day) and they made our stay wonderful. Most of our wedding day was spent enjoing the beautiful grounds of La Magioca with a buffet lunch and a traditional italian candlelight evening meal on the terrace. The rooms are fantastic, everything we could have wished for (especailly "Greta"), and it was lovely waking up to the smell of homemade plum cake and croissants being baked in the mornings. Our wedding was arranged by Gloria Franco of [--] and with the help of people at La Magioca, she made our day one that we will never forget.

  • Liked — Beautiful rooms and scenery
  • Disliked — Nothing to dislike!
  • Tips/Secrets — If staying for longer than a few days, a car may be needed as there are only a three nearby restaurants and taxis into Verona are quite pricey

“We loved La magioca”

My wife and I have just spent 4 wonderful days at the La Magioca. Our bedroom was lovely, as the rest of the house and the staff were friendly and helpful. We also had breakfast on the patio in the lovely grounds.
The La Magioca is in a quiet position and there is a nice restaurant just outside the gates, closed monday, and two more ten miutes walk down the hill.
La Magioca is ideal for exploring the Valpolicella wine region although we would recommend a car as the town of Negrar is 25 minutes walk and taxi's have to come from Verona.
We will certainly return.

“A rare jewel perched in vineyards above Verona.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2005

Finding La Magioca was a bit of a challenge, but what a reward when we did arrive! Nestled in groves of plum and fig, and featuring a lovely park-like property complete with 13th century chapel, the transformed stone "farmhouse" was a rare slice of heaven on earth.

We stayed in one of the smallest rooms (the only way to afford our visit), which was artfully decorated and outfitted in an elegant rustic style. The attention to comfort and detail was outstanding: an impromptu gourmet snack when we came home hungry from sightseeing, handmade chocolates on the pillow at night (complete with little card featuring next day's weather and projected temperature), bi-lingual staff members who helped us make travel plans, even a well-mannered cat (Charlie) and dog (Petra) to make us feel at home.

Patricular mention must be made of the diningroom creations brought to life by Chris, the La Magioca chef. We enjoyed a memorable multi-course dinner that featured innovative dishes created with ingredients grown on the property. La Magioca is an unparalled experience for the sophisticated traveler! We hope to returm someday.

“Perfect for romantic occasions!!!!”

Lovely peaceful relais just 10 minutes drive from Verona. A 16th century farmhouse with a wonderful garden, a small romantic church and a beautiful large suite with jacuzzi, sitting-room, pay tv, library, studio, fireplace and a gorgeus four-poster bed. Ok, it's not so cheap but if you are looking for somewhere to celebrate a very special occasion thet's the place for you!!! Owners are very helpful and they really make you feel at home: ask them to book restaurants or anything else. I hope we will come back for another romantic week-end.

“a lovely retreat in Verona”

My wife and I have stayed at Relais La Magioca in the small town of Negrar -just a 10 minutes drive to Verona - two years in a row and will definitely return when the opportunity presents itself. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful and have gone out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable in their centuries-old farmhouse, beautifully decorated, with an incredible garden . It makes a great base from which to explore the Valpolicella vineyards countryside and the beautiful city of Verona . The owners readily assist their guests with plans and recommendations. Best of all is the serene beauty outside our bedroom window. The large few rooms are individually decorated in elegant homey Italian country style with jacuzzi bath tubs and large king size bedrooms .I highly recommend this delightful B&B.
