“The Grace of Verona”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

Hotel Martini provides an efficient, relaxed and personal service. Initially the position of the Hotel doesnt look inviting by a fast flowing river channel, but in fact it is quiet and very well situated either to walk into the city centre (15 minutes) or take any number of buses from the nearby rail and bus terminus (10 minutes max), or a taxi. There is also a free evening shuttle into the centre either for dining or for the Opera.
We found many of the front of house staff took a clear interest in our needs as their guests. Breakfast was a good spread and selection, with an outside terrace if you want it. The room (a Junior Suite) was excellent with superb bathroom facilities, restrained but carefully decorated.
We loved our four days in Verona - especially wining and dining, and of course the Opera

“Location is the chief benefit of this hotel.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2011

This hotel has a fantastic location within a 5 minute walk from the Verona train station. In addition, it is roughly a 7-10 minute walk to the city center. Besides location, most things are less than ideal. A small laundry list of negatives follows:

-staff is dismissive and rude
-5 Euro/day for Internet
-2 Euro/HR for bike rental
-rooms are hot (no AC in May)
-beds loud and creaky!!!
-walls thin! Loud!

Expect ZERO and you will leave happy and with a lighter wallet.

Dear Guest,

I'm sorry if our staff seems 'dismissive and rude' to you, I will appreciate if you can explain me better what has happened by email at manager@hotelsverona.it.
About the cost of the internet 0,20 Euro cent per hour don't seem so expensive to me if you consider that to provide a wifi connection in such a big building and the subscription to an internet provider involves costs for the Hotel!
The cost of the bike rent is due to the frequent damages that unpolite guests cause to the rented bike.
Maybe you were expecting that we can give all these services for free?
In this case I would like to know what is your job and if you can you teach to me how to pay for something and then give it for free!
Thank you very much

“Nice hotel, shame about the location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2011

Clean, spacious room, only 5 minutes walk from the train/bus station but 30 minutes walk into the city centre. Just too far away. Otherwise a good hotel.

We hired bikes from the hotel (€50 deposit, then €2 per hour, not such a clever idea if you want to enjoy a bottle of wine with your dinner! we didn't see any taxis around either.

Dear Guest,

Hotel Martini is 1650 metres from the Arena di Verona (in miles 1,025 you can check on Google Maps). If you have spent half an hour to walk 1650 metres I suspect that you have missed a turn!
The cost of rental bikes is justified by the damages that unpolite guests cause to the bikes and by the costs maintenance.
If you must choose between a bottle of wine and bike rental, I agree with you: is right to prefer wine.
Thank you

“Unfriendly staff but good value for the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2011

I want to start off by mentioning that the staff was not friendly at all! Whenever we spoke to someone at the front desk, they seemed very annoyed. The hotel is only a short walk to the town but we got some local traffic outside our hotel at night. Parking was reasonable and the total hotel price stay was also a good deal. Bathroom was big and the room was confortable. The staff needs to work on being friendly and smiling. Would recommend for only one night.

“In the end, this was a smokin' deal and well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

We stayed here for three nights while my wife was pretty sick. Overall, I was very happy with the stay. In particular, the young woman, Elisa, who worked at the desk was top shelf.

Hotel Martini is not right on top of the tourists stops for Verona. Instead, it is very close to the train station which is probably more important, particularly if you plan to visit Lake Garda (which we recommend). The walks to the center of town are very short (less than 1 mile) and since we were heading to the train station with bags, we preferred for that to be the shorter walk. It is also close to the soccer stadium which might be fun for some. They are also attached to Hotel Piccolo which I assume is fairly similar.

One thing we like was the giant window that opened up completely. It was probably a 5.5 feet square at least. If you can get a room on the city side on the fourth floor you will have an excellent view. There is a little terrace on the roof that would be a nice place to set up a picnic.

If you need a late night meal, they can shuttle you to their sister hotel as late as 10pm for a very decent meal. This came in handy with my wife being sick.

Internet access was 5 Euros/day and it worked very well.

We really found ourselves feeling at home here. I would come back without hesitation.
