What a lovely little place! We visited in peak August, so were somewhat apprehensive about the crowds and heat- let alone the noise we may experience staying in central Venice...but we needn't have worried. Yes, Venice is full of camera-clad crowds around the tourist sights- but step into a nearby side-street and they slowly melt away...in fact by the time you have walked the 15 minutes back to Piccolo Vecellio, the streets are peaceful and charming- the perfect retreat! And yes, August is HOT...but who can complain about stunning sunny weather when you have a great airconditioned room to return to after a hard day's exploring? The room was of course on the small side, but packed with charm, set in a beautiful old beamed building in a little side street just off the Fondamenta Nuove. Breakfast was more than adequate and Beata could not have been more attentive and helpful... We will return!
