What a great hotel this was. It was in a charming little street and looked onto a flowering garden with clothes hanging on the line. It was like being in a little village. The hotel was central to everything and a 2 minute walk to the water bus. With the sun not out, you looked at the water and saw a mist and it was quite mysterious, just like I would picture Venice. The owners Beata and Matteo are fabulous and speak perfect English. The room was perfect, I can't say anything more except it was perfect. One of the best places we have stayed in for a long time. Thank you Beata and Matteo for having this room available for us. As soon as we get more money together, we will definitely come and visit again. Thank you very much.

clean and comfortable, charming helpful hosts, ideal location easy to find from the alilaguna waterbus stop at fondamente nove.
we booked last minute using the hotel website, got a good deal and enjoyed our stay,
only downside is that room 1 is at ground level and despite double glazing you can hear people walking by enroute to the waterbus stop. Despite that we would stay again .

Saw the reiews on here, so decided to book (via laterooms), on booking asked for Champagne on arrival as it was our wedding anniversary, and lo and behold champagne (or at least the Italian version) and a rose was in our room. Room comfortable and clean, and the hotel owner and his wife couldn't be more helpful in suggesting where to go, what to do. One place he recommended (I forget the name, but just ask him...) is a restaurant owned by "Tony" - I think he's a local legend. My god, I have never in my life had food, drink and such a truly fanstasic evening in my life - and I have eaten in some amazing places. Plus it was a place where Venetians properly eat. So if you want a true Venetian experience go here (then you can go to St Marks Square and get trully ripped off!!). Thank you Picollo Vecellio! x

We booked into the Vecellio hotel for our four night stay in Venice, and when we arrived (after a long delay from Manchester), we were told that our room was in the Piccolo Vecellio- the sister hotel. At first, we were apprehensive as the reviews had suggested that this wouldn't be good! However, we were pleasantly surprised! Obviously I can;t compare it to the main hotel as I haven't been in, but the Piccolo Vecellio was lovely- very quiet and as it is down a little side street, I would suspect quieter than the main hotel.
The rooms are nice and clean, with a lot of character, and a fridge, which was great as it was so hot! The breakfast was very basic, with packaged brioche, but enough to get you set up for the day- at least until you could go to a bakery for a meringue!
The room was cleaned daily, and there were magazines and literature in reception for people to read. All in all, I thought the hotel was a gem, and I would definitely want to stay there again.
