“Should not have let him pick it!!!”

This is a very clean contemporary looking sports complex. For me, there was no ambiance as I personally prefer a quaint little B&B over this type of stay. He chose it, not me. However, if one is really into tennis, there could be an attraction here. We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Venice. The breakfast buffet was excellent with many choices. The food in the restaurant was just ok, nothing to get excited about. We did enjoy traveling on the water bus back and forth. This hotel was very difficult to find and we spent a long time trying to figure how to get there. Fortunately we ran across another guest of the hotel who was able to direct us. We had to catch a local bus which took us reasonably close to the facility but we still had a pretty long walk from the bus stop. This is true for each time that one returns to the island. I might add that once we were settled in, the hotel has a shuttle which took us from the hotel to the town center and water bus stop. We still had to use the city bus for the return trip back to the hotel. The staff was very courteous and helpful. We chose to stay on Lido because we found it to be more economical than staying in Venice.

“Good base to explore Venice.”

We found the hotel very good value for money, and it gave us a chance to spend longer in Venice than the usual weekend break. Our room was clean and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the tennis courts. It was extremely quiet at night, which allowed for a good night's sleep. The breakfast was plentiful,.. you could help yourself to as much as you wanted. The hotel offered a minibus service to the town in the mornings, though the buses were very frequent day and night. We ate in the hotel restaurant several nights, as we were tired from our days exploring Venice, and thoroughly enjoyed our meals there. We found the staff helpful and friendly. The Internet access in the hotel lobby was useful and inexpensive. My one disappointment was that we stayed during the first week in October, and the lovely swimming pool was closed from the end of September.

“loved this hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

We stayed 2 nights on our Trafalgar tour. The food was by far the best of any hotel we stayed in. Loved traveling to Venice across the Venetian lagoon. The pool and tennis courts and grounds are beautifully maintained.

“When in Venice Don't stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

I have to say this has to be one of my worst hotel expericences ever. The location is not ideal however it is very easlily to get to with local transport this is however it is only redeeming feature.

The staff here were terrible there were 2 helpful ladies on reception the most helpful staff at the hotel however every time i apporached the desk i felt like i was interupting them and considering the fact that the lobby was empty most of the time i felt it was a bit odd.

The breakfast was pretty average but the coffee was terrible form the machines unless you figured out that you could get a decient cup from the coffee bar.

The rooms we ok apart from the massive hole in the wall the no hot water in the shower and holes in the duvet covers and the fact that there are no tea and coffee making facilies any where to be found and you can't get hot water to you room either.

However for me the best bit was after we asked what time the bar was closing and told 10.30 we were told to please leave at 10.10 in the evening as the bar was closed no last round just closed. However the men who work in the hotle get the prize for the rudest staff ever on the 3 ocassion i dealth with them the man who i assume must have been a manager was down right rude as well as the male receptionist and night porter . Truely astonishing. I truely am not some one who complains and i have worked in hotels for many years and i know how hard the job is. But there is a level of service and standard required and i really do feel that this was not done.

So over all i would not recommend any one to stay here truely a total waste of money.

“Fantastic 3* hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

For the price we paid for this hotel you really couldnt complain, in fact had I paid more i still wouldnt have complained. The reception staff on arrival were very helpful, gave us a map of the island and explained how to get to Venice and around the Island, even got up from there seat to show us to our room. We had two rooms overlooking the tennis courts, the rooms were lovely very clean, nice modern bathroom with hairdryer, there was a Tv in the room, you could get sky news and mtv in english, maids came every day and did a fantastic job, we had a small balcony with table and 2 chairs. I would ask for a high floor or one overlooking the tennis courts as there are a couple of rooms on the ground floor that are right on top of the car park so not a great location. We did notice that the rooms on the top floor had huge terraces. The communal seating area in the hotel lobby is very pleasant and you can pay 1euro for 1 hours internet connection, you do have to sit in the hotel lobby though you can not get a connection from the room. The hotel swimming pool was lovely, nice comfortable sun loungers and always some available even in August peak season, the food was good too, it did get busy at lunch time and we had to wait a while but it was worth it. Breakfast in the hotel was good, standard continental although after a week we did get a little tired of it. My husband used the gym and said it was very good. The police stay in this hotel during the summer months so you will definitely feel safe, there were a lot of police on the island but no trouble, dont think they really needed as many as they had. With regards to location we had a hire car so location wasn't a problem for us, to be perfectly honest it is probably the furthest hotel from the main shopping area and ferry terminal but the island is so small it is only a quick bus journey away and the buses are very frequent. We hired bikes and cycled the length of the island and that is with a teenager who doesn't particulary like excercise. To go to Venice we got a private water taxi which cost 80euros return, that was for 4 of us, we did barter him down on the price. The car ferry from Tronchetto to Venice Lido was 38euros each way for a car and 4 passengers, so if you are taking your car dont plan to go back and forth like we did as it will cost you a fortune. We stayed on the Island for a week but thought this was a bit too long as the island is so small we ran out of things to do at the end so we stayed near Jesolo for the last night and went to Aquaventura water park which was amazing definitely the best one in Europe i have been to, also better than some in America and Dubai. The beaches on the Island are good, you do get the looky looky men going up and down selling handbags, bracelets sunglasses etc dont forget to barter with them, you can hire bikes and the main street Gran viale santa maria elisabetta has shops supermarkets and resturants, we were paying around 76 euros for a meal for 4 of us, including alcohol. If you are visiting the Island you dont really need to stay longer than 4 or 5 days and I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel, we all loved it.
