“Fabulous location and comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

This hotel was provided everything we were looking for. It is in a quiet area and very quaint. Traveling with two adult children, we were given a room with a very large terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. The four of us could gather here at the beginning and end of each day, enjoying view and gondola activity. At night it was breathtaking. The bathroom was beautiful, heated floors, soaker tub, all marble and the bed was the most comfortable of all the places we stayed in on our trip. The service was good. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. The location was about a 10 - 15 minute walk to St. Mark's and many other attractions. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the terrace.

“Hotel let itself down”

Okay we know Venice is very touristy and accommodation tight. In that regard the Hotel Dragomanni was a great hotel. Close to transport and all the best attractions but far enough away not to be noisy. We were given to 2 rooms for our family of 4. Heaven! But the service was aloof, and generally unhelpful. It was simply an unfriendly place to stay. We simply didn't feel wanted.

“A quiet, comfortable base for exploring this magical city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

A lovely small hotel which seems to be a couple of buildings knocked together. Location is very useful - down a small, quiet alley, but only a couple of minutes walk from the Giglio vaporetto stop and the Accademia bridge -so easy to get around, and close to most of the major sights. Our room was compact (but no smaller than usual for Venice) - but you don't come to Venice to sit in your hotel! (Some rooms are advertised as having a Grand Canal view - but as far as I could work out, the hotel does not front onto the canal, so you would be looking over the top of the adjacent building.) The bed was very comfortable, with lovely linen, and everything seemed to work fine. Breakfast was a cold buffet - cheese, ham, eggs, cereals, cakes, fruit, etc, with tea & coffee made to order. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the only downside is the internet wi-fi (which I gather is a system shared by several other Venice hotels) is slow and unreliable. Comparable to many of the other small 4* hotels we have used in Venice, and we'd happily stay there again.
If you are arriving by air, the nearest Allilaguna stop is Sant Angelo (Orange line, about 7-8 minutes walk away).

Room Tip: Hotel is down a very quiet alleyway, so I would think all rooms should be quiet.

“3 is a bit harsh”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

3 is a bit harsh, but I'm not sure that the hotel is 'very good'/4 stars.

My girlfirend and I stayed in one of the rooms with a view of the grand canal (across a couple of rooftops). The room was more or less opposite the Peggy Guggenheim museum which was nice. To clear up some confusion in earlier reviews:

- The Dragommani is not ON the canal, it is set a few buildings back
- If you want a with a good view of the Grand Canal ensure that it is on the 3rd floor. Contrary to earlier reviews, I think this is quite clear on the website.

The room was small but well formed, with plenty of storage and a good bathroom. The breakfast is good if a little uninspiring. The hotel is superbly located in a quiet enclave between St. Marks and the Accademia bridge. All in all I would recommend you stay here, it is a good hotel. Possibly not quite as luxurious as the website would have you believe, but a decent and not bank-busting place to stay in the centre of Venice.

Room Tip: TOP FLOOR, TOP FLOOR...stay on the top floor and you'll get a good view.
