“Great Hotel”

Overall it's a great hotel, very well located, very clean and charming. My husband and I travel quite frequently and have been to Europe many times. I could certainly say that to European standards this was an excellent choice of hotel. Perfectly located around the corner of the Rialto bridge were the water taxi drops you off. The room was very pretty and well decorated with beautiful fresh white linen. The bathroom is all marble with double sinks it seemed like it had just been renovated, with bathrobes, toiletteries, beautiful towels etc.
The hotel is located in the heart of all the shops and cafes, and a 5 or 6 minutes walk to Plaza St. Marco. The staff was very efficient, and polite as well as very helpfull, with any questions we had. The breakfast was included and was excellent, with beautiful china and cutlery, and crisp white table clothes. The food selection was just what you needed fruits, cheeses, cerearl, croissants, danishes and the regular scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon etc and all very nicely presented . Of course espressos, cappucinos, and all kinds of teas are served as well. It's not a sumptuous hotel like the (Ritz) but on a smaller scale it's an excellent 4* with pretty rooms and great amenities. The only negative if I have to mention one is that there is no great views from the windows. All the buildings are close together, so there is no landscape views. The staff was very sweet, on our last day we had to checkout early because of our flight, they prepared us 2 breakfast bags full of food, we couldn't finish half of it. I highly recommend this hotel for quality, service, and location. Unless money is no object and you are looking for the "Ritz standart" this is a great hotel, I would recommend it to all my friends and would definetly go back.

“Excellent”

This was our first trip to Italy and Venice was our last stop after 3 visits. We really enjoyed the hotel. The room was the nicest of the three that we stayed in.
Pros: Readily accessible from the Vaporretto stop with easy directions to find. This was really important for us because my wife was 5 months pregnant and we did not want to be lugging luggage through the streets of Venice. The room was a good size based on European standards. The staff was very friendly at the front and our room was always immaculate when we returned at the end of the day. It was a more modern hotel so the ammenities were also nice. The location was also convenient. We were about 5 minutes from St. Mark's Square and 2 minutes from the Vaporretto.
Cons: The breakfast was just ok for us. It seems to be a standard European style breakfast. I was a little disappointed the bacon and eggs weren't ready when the breakfast started at 7am because we had to catch our plane. I also think the milk for the cereal might have spoiled. I did love the croissants and the free hot chocolate in the morning was also nice.

Room Tip: Book early.

“Back again!”

Stayed at La Commedia last October and this January we had an equally pleasant and relaxing time. Hotel accommodation was excellent, staff were very helpful and courteous as before and we were only sorry that we were not staying longer. Venice itself is equally fascinating in winter as in summer. The Basilica has no queues at this time of year! The city itself positively overflows with art and atmosphere and hopefully we will return again to explore further as there is still plenty to see.

Room Tip: higher floors quieter, a few have balconies which would be great in warmer weather as is the roof te...

“An amazing City :)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Stay in this hotel approx 2 years ago at the end of September for one night before catching a Greek Isle Cruise. Our first trip to Venice and fell in love with the city.
Location was perfect for us - the rialto bridge is just around the corner. There is a lovely court yard with a restaurant just outside. Shops and restaurants are just a stroll down one of the many quaint streets.
Rooms are a bit on the small size but im assuming this is the norm for a city like Venice. Room were decorated lovely and contained everything we needed. The bathroom was sizeable in comparison to the bedroom.
There is a quaint bar area beside the reception area - from what I recall the roof terrace bar wasnt open for drinks but you could still go up there.
For the time of year we stayed I did feel that the hotel was a bit pricey.
I would most certaintly stay at this hotel when we return to Venice, if the price is right.
TIP: We made the mistake of hopping on the first water taxi that came along and would recommend that you do your homework as we were taken on a very long scenic route.

“Comfortable and Compact”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

The hotel is in a great location, just off the Rialto vaparetto stop, near the Rialto Bridge and a short walk across to San Marco square. The staff introduced themselves as true Venetians and took pride in giving us info and directions to all the best sights on the map. We didn't take up the shared gondola ride or free trip to the Glass manufacturer on Murano options that can be organised through the hotel.

Our room was 102, so an easy walk from reception up one flight of stairs. There was quite a small lift so it was good not to need it too often.

Overall, we enjoyed our two night stay here.

The room was comfortable, the bathroom quite large with all the extras you need, the cupboards held our bags and an in-room safe was available for our valuables. Breakfast was included and served just down the corridor on level 1. It had plenty of variety and helpful staff to bring tea/coffee/hot chocolate to the table.

The bar across from reception is quite small with only 3-4 table settings. There is usually lots of bustle in and out around this area, so not somewhere to relax for long.
