“Cute B&B a short walk from S. Marco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

We stayed in Gli Angeli's self-catering apartment for 1 night in June and loved it. The apartment is on a little square in the Arsenale district, which is ideally located: quieter than the bustling San Marco and Rialto districts but just a short walk from San Marco and close to the beautiful lagoon waterfront. The apartment was spacious, with a modern bathroom and despite basic furniture had everything we needed. The owner Sonia was incredibly nice and helpful, she even sent me a piece of clothing which I had forgotten in the apartment by mail. Thank you, Sonia - we will for sure come back!

“Great location, nice room but no real breakfast or instructions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2011

This "B&B" is in a great location next to the Aresenale. It is one water-bus stop from Piazza San Marco. We stayed in the blue room which was very adequate. It was clean and fairly spacious for Europe. The bathroom was also surprisingly spacious for Europe.

However, I would not really call this a B&B -- there was really no breakfast. The room is stocked with supplies to make your own simple breakfast -- bread with toaster, jams, packaged treats (danishes, twinkies), juice in the fridge and a coffee maker with coffee. Our expectations were that we would be served a fresh continental breakfast, so instead we went out to a nearby coffee shop for fresher pastries.

The bed is a bit bouncy (springs) but we slept well. The room is in a quiet section of the city.

Sonia was very nice and greeted us upon arrival. However, we had to prompt her for various items -- e.g. the free tickets to the maritime museum next door. Overall, there was very little orientation or contact with her. We asked for a recommended restaurant and she referred us to a good place nearby.

This B&B is really two rooms joined to a common entrance and nothing beyond that.

So, overall, you get a clean room and good location. For us that is adequate. Just be aware that there is little beyond that if those are your expectations. Adjust your expectations and you'll enjoy Gli Angeli.

“Charming B&B”

We had a wonderful stay at B&B Gli Angeli. The accomodations were clean and welcoming and we loved the location. Close to San Marco but off the beaten path. Sonia was very helpful and informative. We would definitely return to B&B Gli Angeli. It's the best kept secret in Venice!

“Book Gli Angeli”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

What better recommendation than to say I would stay at Gli Angeli the next time in Venice. The B&B is located in the quiet Arsenale section of the city. The room was
clean and we felt very safe and secure staying there. A small room, and of course we
overpacked, so it was a tight space for 2 adults and 1 teenager but we managed very
well.
A vaporetti (water bus) is close by and also San Marco Piazza. It's fun to explore the piazza and canals of Venice but a two or more day pass on the vaporetti will get you to your other destinations without all the walking or maps.
Sonia was wonderful and she can give great advice about Venice and the other islands nearby. I also noticed a drawer with maps and brochures of the city.
Gli Angeli....clean...quiet location....good value.....wonderful hostess.

“Our friends were jealous!”

The friends we were traveling with stayed at another establishment because they had points for a free room. I'll not name the establishment but, believe me, it's up there. When they saw our room - twice the space for less than half the price - they were so jealous (in a friendly way) and vowed to stay with Sonia next time. Sonia's the best. I don't even bother checking other places, just contact her directly.
