“Fits the bill for the biennale in November”

Good friendly service. Tried two of the recommended nearby restaurants with good results. The pizza was pretty ordinary though. Beware Norwegian scampy is really crayfish with very little meat in it.
Buses 4 and 19 to Venice on the doorstep. the 4 takes a long time so avoid. A travel pass at the airport gets you on all buses and water buses. choose according to length of stay. Shops sell single trip tickets.

“Good access to Venice and the airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

This hotel is on the outskirts of Venice and has easy access to the city and to the airport. It is good value for money. The breakfast is good and the staff excellent. The manager/owner recommended Trattoria Alla Pesa as a place to eat, and the food there was excellent. He also arranged a taxi to the airport for us the next day. The only downside was that there were only two hangers in the wardrobe, fine for a one night stay but not for longer. This is nit-picking and I would recommend this hotel as a less expensive alternative to staying in Venice itself.

“Loved our stay here”

The rooms are large with nice bathroom, breakfast really good, nice and clean with free transport to Venice historic centre and a really good restaurant recommended Trattoria Alla Pesa just down the road with the best seafood dishes for under 30euro for two with a litre of wine and cafe. Great little bar nearby Sole luna with free nibbles and drinks are only from .70 euro to 1.50 euro.

“Hotel owner could not do enough for his guests!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

From the moment we stepped through the door we were looked after as if we were at the Dorchester. Our last hotel that we stayed in at Florence was terrible and this hotel was the complete opposite. It was immaculately clean and the owner of the hotel constantly helped us throughout our stay and was a fountain of knowledge with regards to getting around and seeing the sights. He had a very pleasant nature and his whole family was pleasant and sociable as well. We initially thought they were guests as they mingled amongst other guests but not intrusively. We ended up socialising with the family and the owner even bought us a bottle of wine. Okay it was only 8 euros but still, he didn't have to do this and he's running a business at the end of the day. Putting it simply, he's just a very nice guy, who looks after his guests and can't do enough for them. I can't recommend this place enough and I saw him being the same with other guests. If I was going back to Venice I would stay here again and recommend you stay here. The bus stop is just a few yards down the road and costs just over a euro each way into Venice and only takes 15 minutes, but it works out at much better value. Thanks for such an enjoyable stay!

Room Tip: Much better value than hotels in the centre of Venice.

“Avoid if the only hotel on Earth- rude, disrespectful, impolite and utterly dirty”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

I have arranged with hotel manager the booking of two rooms, one single and one double. After 14 hour drive we arrived exhausted to the hotel Altieri late in the evening finding out that there was only one single room left for us even though their computer said I have asked for two separate rooms! I was traveling with my sister and male colleague and we could not sleep in one bed!!!
This weird person at the reception desk not only did not offer to call another hotel to arrange alternate accommodation for us but also asked (in very lousy English) for my cell phone to call the manager and ask what to do!!! I asked why doesn't he use their land line but he only replied that he did not have any money on his cell. I gave him my phone and he asked that I type the number for him, but at that moment owner's son came by and we were hoping that he will sort things out... Right!!!
None of the talking nor protesting helped. Not only they refused to accommodate us but also refused to call another hotel to check availability. The conclusion was that the mistake was manager's not theirs and that we should get lost. In the end owner junior said that he was police officer and that he orders us to leave the hotel immediately!
I have never and nowhere met such disrespect and I have surely traveled a bunch!
Apart from the rudeness we found hotel old, poorly maintained and dirty with stains and dust all over the place.
We were wondering around Favaro Veneto and Mestre for two hours but all other hotels, motels and b&bs were full! In the end, few minutes after midnight, we managed to find two rooms available at a nice villa called Villa Gaia close to the airport Marco Polo. They were far away cheaper, cleaner and more comfortable than Altieri and the owner was nicest person ever! In case You want his contact I will be more than happy to share it with You.
My friendly advice would be to either AVOID hotel Altieri or make an alternative booking elsewhere, since You will definitely need it!

Room Tip: Stay away from any room in this hotel
