“Something wrong with these reviews”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

This hotel is probably a 2.5 or 3 star, not a 4 star as advertised. It sits a little outside of everywhere you want to be, has old beds, and offers a very limited breakfast buffet. Sure, Venice hotels may offer less for more money than elsewhere in Italy, but Venice has far better options that this hotel at the same price. Staff, yes, were very friendly, the hotel was very clean, and it was in a good state of repair. Keep looking for a better option and you should find something better and in a better location.

Not sure why this hotel has almost exclusively 5* reviews, I'm guessing that

“Our second stay here, just as excellent as it was the first time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We decided to stay here again over the course of our holiday to celebrate our second anniversary, this time travelling with two more couples. We all stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, and then again for another night before flying back home.

We chose to stay the first 4 nights in the same room as last year which we highly recommend; the 'Double De Luxe Soppalco' room (please see our previous review for a more detailed review for this room), and booked the 'Junior Suite Capella' for our last night. Sadly, although we requested and received confirmation that the 'Capella' room was available we were informed upon arrival that this was no longer the case due to a honeymoon couple extending their stay. Fair enough we thought, they were on their honeymoon after all, and we were given the suite next door, we cannot remember the suite's name but it was room number 202. We weren't very impressed with this room, the size was very generous, decoration was very nice and the balcony over-looking the canal was beautiful but the bathroom was tiny in comparison to the one in the cheaper 'Double De Luxe Soppalco' room, and it only had a shower. The biggest problem with this suite however is that the wall which separates it and the 'Capella' suite next to it is paper thin. One can safely assume that the 'Capella' suite suffers the same problem, and whilst we would love to spend a night in that suite to appreciate the painted ceiling we cannot honestly recommend either of them because of this, especially as the excellent 'Double De Luxe Soppalco' room does not have this problem and is cheaper!

Our fellow travelling couples chose to spend their stay in the 'Economy' and 'Classic' rooms, both of which we found to be a good enough size for those on a budget particularly as the 'Economy' room they stayed in also overlooked the canal.

A good improvement over our first say here back in 2010 was the overall cleanliness of the rooms, if you look at our first review we scored 4 out of 5 for the cleanliness whereas we can now comfortably give it a 5 out of 5. Another plus was that the coffee offered during the morning breakfast buffet was much better!
No idea if the hotel management read these reviews but if they do then thank you for listening to your customers! :)

PS: We are going to be in Venice again in February 2012 and would have stayed here again but sadly there is no availability so we’ve had to reluctantly book elsewhere!

Room Tip: If you're booking an 'Economy' room ask for one overlooking for canal for the best bang...

“Understated luxury in a small Venetian "palazzo"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

This very small boutique hotel is in a beautiful old “palazzo” complete with frescoes. The staff, very courteous, professional and knowledgeable, makes you feel like a special guest and not like just another tourist. Located within easy walking distance of Piazza San Marco, restaurants and shopping, the hotel boasts a dock at its entrance that makes it simple and easy to take a water taxi anywhere. Our suite was luxurious, extremely comfortable and clean. The hotel features a very nice breakfast. Fast and free WiFi internet access everywhere in the hotel is a great plus. We will go back again and again!

Room Tip: Balcony rooms offer a fabulous view

“Beautiful Hotel and Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

We stayed in a junior suite with a painted ceiling. The room was great and big. The staff were very friendly. We easily walked from the train station to the hotel and all the sites in Venice. The breakfast in the morning was very good. There is not many rooms so book in advance. They are currently in the progress of adding more rooms. The hotel is on its' own small canal so nice and quiet.

Room Tip: choose a junior suite, well worth the extra money

“beautiful and a perfect location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

This hotel is small, personal and beautiful. The location is excellent, right on the edge of a small canal. just a 15 minute stroll through lovely streets filled with shops and restaurants to Rialto bridge. At night it's peaceful and the rooms are decorated a very high standard and very venetian in style. The breakfast was varied and plentiful. i would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: we stayed in one of the small budget rooms, which was perfectly adaquate.
