“The local touch... a hidden jewel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We booked here because it was cheap and the reviews were excellent. So is this review! The proprieter was the best I've encountered. He emailed us on booking so that he could meet us at the dock and guide us to this hard to find (but well located) idyll. He then provided us with a map of "good places to eat where you will not get ripped off" and he was right. We tried two of them and weren't disappointed. The room was small but charming and was warm and comfortable. It was great to stay with a Venetian family in their house (their quarters are separated from the hotel for your privacy however). The only quibble was that the double bed was 2 singles pushed together, but with this level of service and great value I will likely be back!

Room Tip: The rooms that are not ensuite were fine for us as it was only shared with one other room.

“Nice Place To Stay When On A Budget And In A Nice Neighborhood”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

This was my first bed and breakfast experience so I have nothing to compare it to. The host (Mario and Esmiralda) were very nice and accommodating people. Mario met us at the Boat stop and guided us to the home. This was definitely needed as it' easy to get lost. He had a map prepared of the area with a list of five recommended restaurants that won't break your wallet.

We walked down a few alleys which are actually streets up to an apartment door among several others which led into their home. There is a downstairs room and an upstairs. Where there are at least two rooms possibly three. One of the upstairs rooms has its own bathroom The other rooms upstairs have a shared bathroom. It did cost a little more to have your own bathroom but it was worth it. Not sure about the downstairs bedroom.

You have the option of having breakfast included in your stay for an extra ten euros a night. Breakfast was simple which included, coffee, juices, croissants, bread, butter, jelly and yogurt. It may not sound like much but for ten dollars but it's cheaper than having breakfast at any other place when you factor everything in.

The main beds were comfortable but the single cot style beds are in need of replacement. The single mattress was placed on a spring frame. The springs are weak and are in need of replacement to keep the bed from bowing in the middle.

The bathrooms are small but that's the way it is in Europe. Plenty of hot water and a tv for night time relaxation. Very limited English channels. Channel 8 and 23 was all i found and only in the evenings for a limited time.

Would I return? If I was on a budget yes.

The area of town was great. It is a good walk to St. Marks square but that's what Venice is, all walking. It's far enough away to where the cheaper more reasonable shopping is and is a nice walk to the other areas.

When i go back to Venice I will keep this place in mind but am also prepared to stay some place new. not sure that I am a fan of the bed and breakfast style.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money to have your own bathroom as well as the breakfast.

“Great location, in a residential part of Venice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Residenza degli Angeli is a nice place in a very quiet residential area just off the Grand Canal. Mario met us off the water bus and walked us through the 'streets' to the B&B. He explains the directions very carefully to make sure you know exactly where to go.

The B&B itself is behind a nondescipt door, the entry area is also the breakfast room and upstairs to the rooms. Our room was at the front above the doorway. It was very small, but that's to be expected in Venice, our shared bathroom was fine and it was never being used when we needed it. Mario made great breakfasts for us each morning, and it was great to share family stories and our experiences with him while we ate.

Our time in Venice was very special and a lot of that was down to us staying at Residenza degli Angeli, recommended.

“Highly recommend for reasonably priced accommodation and a welcoming host.”

I stayed at Residenza degli Angeli in October 2011 with 2 other girlfriends. We were on a girls only trip to Italy having left family behind. We were very lucky to be welcomed by unseasonably warm weather which we were very grateful for.

This B&B is great. The owner Mario met us at the water taxi stop and walked us to the BnB carefully explaining all the directions to and from the stop. He immediately made us feel at home and provided us with maps of Venice which he had carefully marked with key shops, chemists, restaurants etc. We tried two of the restaurants and were so glad we did! When mentioning to one restaurant that they had been recommended by Mario we also got preferential prices which was a welcome surprise. Breakfast was light but perfect. Juice and tea/coffee with some croissants, jam and yogurt.

We did not rent a room with a private bathroom but the shared bathroom, although rather small, was always clean and tidy which did not make sharing too uncomfortable. The BnB is very centrally located and within easy walking distance of key sights whilst being in a very quiet location without any street noise. Mario also let us leave our luggage at the BnB for a few hours after checkout until we had to leave for our train. Highly recommend for reasonably priced accommodation and a welcoming host.

“Good last-minute Venice accommodation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Read "Hotel Alex" reviews to compare and contrast, because this is under the same management.

It's an unmarked, cash only accommodation with one small bathroom for 10+ people. My wife had an impatient guy knocking for her to vacate, and everyone waits morning and night for the next to leave. Breakfast is OK, but a little stale. Coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, and stale rolls that may be recycled daily.

However, you get GREAT air conditioning. A big room thats very quiet and central to everything in Venice. And it's safe. That's all worth a lot. No Mosquitos! But for €120? Perhaps in comparison to other places.
