“Less of a Hotel and more like a Hostel...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We stayed at this "Hotel" in July 2011 while we were on our honeymoon. Venice was one of the many stops throughout our trip. We wanted to keep costs low because we figured we'd splurge more on food and great wine. BIG MISTAKE! This place should not call itself a Hotel but rather a hostel. There is no elevator so you're stuck lugging your baggage up a steep staircase. I think they only have 1 room that has its own bathroom which means everyone else has to share the 2 communal bathrooms. This was pretty annoying considering there were at least 3 other rooms in use (8 people total ) that we were sharing these bathrooms with. The wait time appalling. The room was basic at best. The furniture was tacky and old and at night it got to be pretty noisy.
There were a lot of mosquitos everywhere which sucks when you're trying to shower whilst trying to shoo them away.
The only good thing about this place is that its close to the train station but there are so many other hotels along the strip that are in MUCH better condition.

Do yourself a favor and skip this place altogether!

“A room with a bed and close to the station!”

Easy to find and close to the station. Pretty basic room not luxury in the slightest. Had to use communal bathroom which wasn't too bad although not ideal. Very noisy due to central location so woken early in the morning. However, this hotel has friendly staff and is in the Cannaregio region which we liked and found easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit. Overall a good value place as Venice is tres expensive!

“Great price for a hostel in Venice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

For basic low cost travel, hard to find better in Venice. Suggest requesting a room with a private bathroom.
Room had worn furniture and bathrrpm had a leaky shower that was very moldy.
Staff was quite cheerful and helpful, and the location is great - just a short walk to the train station.

“Highly unprofessional staff, tiny room.”

My husband and I stayed here as part of our Italian honeymoon. While we loved Venice, but this hotel was a horrible experience. We made a reservation for 3 nights and they double booked our room for the third night. They didn't tell us this, because they didn't realize they had done this until 6 pm our last night there when the other guests showed up. They pounded on our door demanding to know whey were were still there, telling us we had to leave. We showed them our reservation and that we still had the room reserved for one more night and they told us too bad we had to leave because the other couple intended to stay for several following nights and they wanted thier business. We told them that was unacceptable and that it wasn't our fault they double booked the room. They wanted to send us to a friends hotel on the other side of Venice that we could stay at for an additional cost, they gave us an address and told us we had to leave. No escort, no offers of compensation for our trouble, no appologies. We refused. They yelled at us, cursed at us in Italian ( we speak English but its not hard to tell when someone is cursing) and actually called us names in English, and told us we were being difficult! We still refused. We didn't want to stay one moment longer but we didn't want to leave and not actually have another hotel room to go to or pay more for a hotel room we hadn't had a chance to vet- one that we were not even sure existed since they didn't feel it was nessasary to let us speak with "thier friend" about the other hotel room that was supposedly availible for us. They said all we needed to leave was an address to go to. We asked the other couple if they really wanted to stay with a hotel that felt fine doing this to us and they agreed they did not and they left for another hotel. the owners were really mad at us then, but agreed that we should stay our last night there since they no longer had another couple who wanted our room. What was a horrible experience!
But even If none of that had occured we would not recomend anyone stay there. Our room was nothing like the pictures would have you believe. The bed barely fit in the room and was rock hard. The french doors look out on thier patio/laundry room and the staff smoke constantly in front of your room. You are provided a key only to lock your room- you are not given a key to the hotel itself whose front door is locked from midnight to 6 am with no service so don't even think about staying out late for drinks or getting up for an early morning run- both of which we wanted to do! You won't be able to get back in or get out! The bathroom is small and had no toilet paper for most of the time we were there. The linnens were never changed and we were unable to get dry clean towels when we asked for them. Oh- and they do have a kitchen area but its taped off and had a sign saying that guests were prohibited from using it!
Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else when you go to Venice!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else- anywhere else!

Best part about this hotel is that it is a 2 minute walk from Santa Maria train station. It is in a great location just off one of the main streets. Very basic but clean room with shared bathroom. Got electric shock from a lamp where the wires were not covered with plastic coating.
