“A charmer that Is good but could be great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

The serene quiet location of the hotel is lovely, at the tip of the Dorsoduro, close to the vaporetto and within pleasant walking distance of the Accademia bridge. Overall the hotel is charming, comfortable and recommended. The review is written as the hotel, which is very good, could be great. Some tweaks are needed to earn the ratings and rates. The concierge assistance is inconsistent and weak, with little knowledge shared on restaurants and events, and little tailored to preferences of guests. The desk operates more as a friendly reception but not as a concierge. Little annoyances, including stiff towels, frayed unchanged bath robe, plastic wrapped cups in the bathroom, dirty cloth hand rail, again don't fit with a "luxury" rating. Similarly, complementary touches such as flowers or chocolates in the rooms, or complimentary evening tea or a drink, are missing at this hotel. Given the lack of an on-site bar, or restaurant, the room service menu could be expanded. The common seating area in the winter, when the small terrace is too cold, is also limited. This is a hotel you want to love and return to, yet the owners/management need to get more involved to ensure an overall quality experience and atmosphere for guests (beyond the stylish decor) and to stay on top of improvements that warrant a "luxury" boutique rating, including concierge services.

“Our second visit - and still love it!”

We stayed in October for our first anniversary, having previously stayed for our honeymoon.

It is a truly wonderful hotel and such a relaxing atmosphere. The staff are are very professional at all times. They arranged trips for us and recommended very good restaurants. There is also an asian guy who works in the evenings bringing room service. He is a credit to the hotel - very professional, friendly, smiley and hard working. (Sorry, I don't recall his name). Nothing was too much trouble for him.

The rooms are all beautiful. We stayed in a suite which was just lovely, and it's great to have the extra space and small private terrace outside. The mini bar has complementary soft drinks in it which is a nice touch.

We will be back again in 2012 for our second anniversary. It has become a very special place for us.

“Excellent service--felt like a queen!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

My husband and I went here for part of our honeymoon trip to Italy. I cannot explain how wonderful their service was. Every minor detail was attended to, with the utmost professionalism and care. Anything we needed we were given without asking. A fabulous hotel, very quaint and familiar in the heart of a beautiful area in Venice. A walking distance to San Marco square, with views of the beautiful church from your window. Stunning, excellent hotel with exceptional charm!

Room Tip: We stayed in the yellow and black Asian themed room. Very cool!

“Nice boutique hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

Very nice boutique hotel in a nice location, next to the Salute church and the Guggenheim museum. Staff were quite reserved, but polite. We stayed in suite 339 and had our own rooftop terrace where we could have breakfast in the morning. The breakfasts were out of this world, over order you wont regret it!

The room also had a seperate lounge room/study, and the bedroom was stylish and comfortable. AC was great in the August heat.

One thing to mention for anyone arriving late at night is that the vaparetto does not stop at the Salute stop outside the hotel late evening. We had a stuggle figuring out how to get to the hotel after arriving in Venice around midnight due to train delays. We eventually figured out that we had to take the night line and get off at the Accademia, from there the hotel was a short walk away following a back street which runs behind the Guggenheim, taking you out to the Salute and the hotel next to it. Wish we had known this in advance, as is never great when you are caught unprepared while you are tired and stressed and this wasnt noted on the hotel website.

We were relieved to arrive at the hotel, and destressed quickly once checked in and enjoying our gorgeous room. The hotel does not have a restaurant, and only serve breakfast and room service snacks, but we found some nice places to eat nearby.

Room Tip: Suite 339 for the private terrace
