After a disappointing bait and switch experience in a nearby apartment near the square (Ca Zora Guesthouse) We stopped at the Hotel Scandinavia and hoped they would have an available room. They did, and not only was it beautiful and comfortable, it was also reasonable. They let us eat breakfast right when we checked in. They were all so nice and accomodating at the desk, they stored my insulin in their refrigerator as well as a bottle of wine. We had such good advice about local sights from everyone that worked at the desk. The breakfast was very generous and better than a typical 'continental breakfast' as it included yogurt as a protein food. Campo Santa Maria Formosa was 5 minutes from San Marco, but far enough away that it wasn't overly touristy. There is a nice little bar on the campo and lots of people watching. If we return to Venice, This is where we are staying.
