We spent 30 minutes wandering around the neighbourhood trying to locate the hotel, even local restaurants hd never heard of it!!! Only a street vendor knew it and gave us a clue as to where it was! When we got to the Hotel Locanda Correr, we found a message directing us to the Hotel Castello and we were given a room there and therefore did not actually stay at the Locanda Correr.
The hotel is literally within few minutes walk of San Marks Square and was comfortable and full of character, with antique furniture which gave it a lovely atmosphere. The room was not huge but clean although the bed was very firm and not overly comfortable, although the excercise you have to take walking around Venice guaranteed a good night's sleep! The staff were helpful and spoke excellent English - ideal for lazy British tourists!!! Breakfast was adequate although the dining area was a little cramped.
We thought that it was expensive for what we got, but bearing in mind the location and the very high prices in gereral in Venice, not bad value overall.
