“Off the beaten path, but quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

People are rude at the bus, in the hotel, in the shops and nobody wants to help you get around. eggs and bacon for breakfast, no kitchen after that so get to walkin ten min. to find anything at all. to do so, exit door go left to end, go left then cross first bridge on right, walk to end go left and cross first bridge on right again, then first right into the big ghetto open area, make your first left and keep going till you hit the main drag. go to the right a min or two and theres a restraunt with a tourist menu out front, they are good, speak english and for 15 euro I had lasagnia, chicken, fries, bread and a soda. now as far as getting here, if you're not leaving the island, do "NOT" rent a car. its 30 euro a day to park it across the road where you will not use it as cars are not allowed on the island period. take the water bus from the airport to island. if you must drive, then come over the long bridge to the end ( you'll see buses turning around) go to right and park in the Marko garage. walk out, stop at kiosk and buy a round trip ticket on water bus. Now you walk to pier, you want first water bus stop on garage side of canal to the left of the bridge. look for the smaller boats you need 41 or 51 sometimes they say 4.1 or 5.1, get on one of these going left, away from that bridge you saw as you walked up that should be on your right as your in front of the water buses. you just wave you ticket she sold you in front of the stand then walk on to what looks like a boat but its the waiting area for actual water buses then get on the correct one. you got about 5 stops before you exit at s.alvise. now you walk off the boat take either road on right or left, they both go strait, take it strait inland untill you hit the first canal, now go right to the first bridge, make a left and it's right there, about 6/7 min walk. if you listen to hotel they talk about taking the number 2 to seconds stop, it's all bs, they got no clue, that way took me an hour of walking to get there. you are packing all your luggage for a total of like a half mile, so pack lite as you can.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the canal

I spent 2 nights at this hotel in the beginning of June. We found the simple double room facing the garden very nice. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very clean. We loved the decor and ambiance of the hotel itself.

“Amazing experience”

We stayed in this hotel for one night. It was gorgeous. from entering the door, we could feel hospitality .what was amazing that the hotel upgraded our room to a garden suite. What a perk! The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was one of the best! Additionally, the hotel has nearest access to the water bus station linking to Murano island and 15 mins walking distance to the central railway station! It deserves it's ranking for sure. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to all of you!

“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

The Residenza Cannaregio is a nice hotel. We stayed in a suite with 2 children and there was plenty of space. Its about a 20 minute walk to the centre of town which was fine for us. It was nice to be in a quiet neighborhood. Breakfast was average and the same everyday and no dinner service at the hotel. The bar is quite small but functional - note it closes at 11pm. We took the bus in from the airport, but highly suggest the direct boat to Cannaregio. You can then jump on the vaparetto and go two stops west and it is a 5 minute walk to the hotel. Note that the pull out sofa beds are very uncomfortable...

Room Tip: Take 202 v 201 - we made a room change and it is much nicer

“We loved staying here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We loved staying here in December. We had a "junior suite" which was stylish, roomy, comfortable and beautifully warm with a well-equipped bathroom, which was cleaned and re-equipped every day. The breakfast buffet offered a great variety and the panchetta bacon was really tasty. All the staff were friendly. The reception staff were incredibly welcoming, spoke excellent English, carried our cases to our room, gave us a useful map, recommended a lovely local restaurant and even phoned to make a reservation for us. There was a free drink in the hotel bar, too. We were very happy with the location in the quaint residential suburb of Cannaregio with its broad canalside walks, local shops and little bars. It was an easy walk or vaporetto ride to the major attractions. We reached the hotel from the airport by means of an Alilaguna boat to Madonna del Orto and then wheeled our suitcases along the canalside walks to the hotel, having previously downloaded a map of the location off the hotel website. We had booked the hotel as part of a budget low-season package, and we were amazed and delighted with the quality of the accommodation and service. It was real value for money. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others.
