We booked this through easyjet and arrived before Christmas for a three day break. It was very reasonably priced and in an incredibly central setting. The hotel is easy to find in the calle before the Hotel Danieli. The people on the reception were helpful but not fussy. We had asked for a higher room and were really pleased with room 304 which overlooked the rooftops between the hotel and St Mark's square. We could see the bells from the bed in the room. The room was very clean, everything was white and there were many windows which allowed the room to be flooded with light. The bathroom (which included a bath!) was large and clean. Be prepared to hear the bells at midnight and 7am from St Mark's. This was amazing value for money and I thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed here the night of 6 October before a cruise the following day. The cost for us was 142 euros, which was good for the area. Just down an alley and over one bridge before getting to St. Mark's Square, accessible (over one bridge) to the San Zaccaria water bus stop. Quiet room with air conditioning, typical European bed. The room was large enough for our large suitcases. The hotel was clean. Biggest complaint I've seen is the flight of stairs you have to ascend to get to the front desk. It isn't fun with a couple of large suitcases, but certainly not a deal-killer. There is an elevator after you get past that hurdle. The front desk staff were helpful and we were able to leave our luggage in the lobby the next day. Breakfast was decent and was included in our price.

We stayed 4th – 8th September 2011. The hotel is in an excellent location and we found the staff to be cheerful, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was as described with a happy smiley waitress who provided an assortment of breads and preserves, fruit juices, various tea or various coffees and was it was served promptly. The room although somewhat small was very clean with a comfortable bed, had its own fridge and a balcony to sit out on. The spacious shower room was modern and clean.
The steps up to reception were quite steep particularly if you have heavy luggage but a stair lift was available if needed. On numerous occasions we approached the receptionists for help and found them all happy and enthusiastic to offer advice and information about the area, the transport system etc.
Wi-Fi is provided free of charge in the hotel and signal strength was strongest in reception but still accessible in our room although it could be intermittent. We found that the username and password changed daily (!?) so approach reception if you are unable to log-on and they will provide you with new ones on a printed sheet.
If we visit Venice again we will have no hesitation in staying at Hotel Antigo Trovatore again and have already recommended it to friends.
Word of warning concerning the fish restaurant ‘La Gondola’ opposite the hotel entrance – although the food was of average quality, the bill was absolutely extortionate as we expected to pay approx. 60-70 euros but ended up paying 127 euros. One of us chose lasagne and salad and the other had a selection of the ‘fish of the day’ which was recommended by the waiter and we were assured by him that this would NOT be expensive. Drinks were one bottle of still water and one beer. We were astonished at the price and objected strongly but to no avail. We will NOT be returning to ‘La Gondola’ if we visit Venice again.

We had a great 3 nights stay in this hotel. Our room was facing the street which was a bit noisy during the day, but it wasn't a problem at night. The room itself had everything we needed and it was cleaned every day. The breakfast was very basic, but I guess it's normal for a small 3 star hotel. I will reccomend this hotel to everybody who's on a budget (we paid 92 euro per night plus 3 euro pp per night city tax).
