The location was great as you can get a feel for the life of Venetian residents in the off season, and there are useful shops such as a Spar, bakery and greengrocers further along via Garibaldi. Very small bathroom. Strange fading or stains of the carpet in the room. One member of breakfast staff was unfriendly. All other staff were friendly and helpful. Overall an OK place to stay in a good location. Trip to Murano island to see glass-making is a must do experience.

I've never felt compelled to write a review before but this hotel has made me feel that way. On arrival we were met with a warm welcome and shown to our room. Although, we had an "economy" room which was the cheapest option it was wonderful! The bath room was very spacious, bath with a shower & window. Marble floors throughout and extremely clean but no view. On our last night we were offered an upgrade to a room with a lagoon view free of charge, we quickly and easily swapped rooms no waiting around etc. surprisingly though we preferred our 1st room as it had more space, and a better bathroom but it was still a very pleasant room. Mini bar is also reasonably priced. Breakfast is adequate; croissants, juice, cereal. Walk to san marco is short and via garibaldi the street the hotel is on has a few cafes and restaurants if you didn't want to venture far. After staying in Venice in feb in a different hotel in dorsoduro this was a 100% better hotel and all staff were lovely. I would highly recommend it!

Stayed at the Ca' Formenta for 3 nights in December. Very impressed for a three star. Staff were pleasent, well informed, and helpfull. The hotel is in a really nice location on the waterside, and at the head of a pleasant street (calle) with shops, bars, and restaurants. It is a 5 to 10 minute walk from St Marks Square, so close enough to be local and far enough to be quite.
The rooms although smallish were clean well decorated and no problems. We did have a rear room with next to no view however just walk through the hotel door and it's all at your feet. The breakfast was nice, self service with good choice.
All in all for the money I paid I was very happy with this hotel.

While the rooms are a bit small, especially the showers, the spread of breakfast was a great way to start a day of exploring Venice. The service was excellent for in house questions and for tips on shopping, eating, and drinking in the neighborhood. When we returned from a day of walking, we were offered drinks and refreshment. Every time I came down to the lobby to use the free wifi, I was offered a drink. We stayed 5 days and enjoyed our stay and will stay here again as it is a great bargain compared to other hotels in the area.
