This is very quaint hotel, just a few steps from the water bus and Rialto bridge. They were very helpful with suggestions for things to do, restaurants and directions. Our room was very clean and we had a great view of the bell tower in St. Marks square from our bedroom window. It was only approx. 10 minute walk to the spectacular St. Marks square. This hotel is a great centralized point to anywhere in Venice. When they say get lost in Venice they mean it, you never know what great thing you will find. It was always easy to find our way back to the hotel.

Room Tip: There are 2 suites. One with a view of the Rialto Bridge in the front and one with the view of the...

“Good location - weird room”

We stayed in this hotel with our two teenage sons and picked it because of the reviews on tripadvisor. The hotel is really easy to get to (Rialto stop on the water bus) and overlooks the Grand Canal which is great when its your first time in Venice. Its only very small with about 6 rooms. More a B&B than a hotel. The staff were great and really helpful and said they upgraded us to their best room which overlooks the Grand Canal. It was very spacious, clean and lovely - except the floor sloped. Definitely weird. The slope was very noticeable as our bags would roll from one side to the other. Lucky the bed seems to be straight so we had a good nights sleep. Apart from that, it was an excellent stay and there was a nice breakfast provided. It is within close proximity to everything and would stay there again.

“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My sister and I spent our birthday in Venice and stayed at the Palazzo Bembo for 7 nights. it was recommended to us by a trusted friend, and we couldn't have wished for a better hotel. The hotel itself is small, 5 rooms, located on the top floor of a lovely old palazzo. It is centrally located - very close to the Rialto Bridge, and the Rialto vaporetto stop is just steps from the front entrance.

The staff was welcoming, warm and extremely helpful. They were always ready with suggestions and knowledgable when answering our many questions.

When we arrived, we were given a larger room than booked since it was a slow week; we had to move to a standard room for our last night, but that allowed us to expereince different types of accomodations. Both types were great.

The larger room, on the front corner of the building, faced the Grand Canal. It was very spacious, especially for European standards, bright and cheerful. And the views were incredible! It had 1 large bed and 1 twin. The smaller room, just next door, overlooked a side canal and was equally as charming as the larger room. Although smaller, it too was comfortable with 1 bed that could be made up as 2 (which housekeeping did for us upon our move). Both bathrooms had a shower, toilet, sink and bidet. Plus delicious towel warmers. The rooms were immaculate - with housekeeping coming in everyday to make up the beds, clean the bathroom, and change the towels.

The hotel offers breakfast each day consisting of meats, cheeses, and an assortment of pastries and juices plus cerals. The attendant (and housekeeper), Lena, didn't speak much English but was always willing to try! We were able to practice our limited Italian with her, and she was delighted when we told her - in Italian - that it was our birthday. We were there in November, and she made sure we had large pieces of the St. Martin cake - an Italian tradition.

As for location, you couldn't ask for better. The hotel is virtually steps away from the Rialto Bridge and a 5-10 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. It is a very safe location and convenient to everything.

All in all, a terrific experience. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

“Nice--But!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

We stayed at the Palazzo Bembo for 2 nights prior to our Med-Cruise out of Venice. We picked this place because it was close(walking distance) to mainly everything. It's located on the 3rd floor of a large building that houses other businesses and offices, even some type of art studio/museum is on one of the floors. We also chose this place because we were 4 persons, needing a quad room in Europe, which is hard to find. Also, our mom, who is 70+ needed the use of an elevator.

The first night we had a nice large quad suite with a really nice big bathroom. The 2nd day we were moved to a smaller room, but had an awesome view, which my sister had pre-requested, because this was the only suite with the canal view. View was nice! But,
the bathroom was a lot smaller, even though this room was supposed to be a much nicer suite than what we had the 1st night. However, it was still a nice room(clean, decent beds, we had one queen and two single/twin beds) All in all the rooms were nice and the breakfast was good. (basic European selections of breads, cheese/cold cuts/ juices/cafe)
Definitely not for the lo-carb dieter : ) The waitress was nice as well, she was very friendly, even though you could tell she didn't speak a lot of English. She brought us a basket full of pastries just for our table each morning along with personal service of coffee/tea.

Now for the BUT! This was the major problem we had with this hotel:
#1] It was always dark and dim in the entrance foyer--especially bad at night(I mean pitch dark) in the entry and using your hands to try and locate the on switch, scaling the wall, walking like a turtle so you don't trip or fall. Not sure why they couldn't keep lights on in the entry and there were times the light switch didn't work and we had to have one person open the entrance door wide so that some light from the outside could shine in and we could see to make our way up the steps. Climbing stairs in the dark is not fun or safe!
2] There were no porters or help at all with luggage. We had to haul our luggage from the Vap transport up the flights of steps to check-in. There was a lift(elevator), but it was old, slow and tiny. Only 1 or 2 persons at a time or 1 person and luggage. At one point we just put our luggage on the lift and sent it down ahead of us, that didn't work, as the lift broke and our luggage was stuck somewhere in between floors. It finally arrived on the 1st floor and then we had to haul it down the steps to the ground floor and back to the Vap. We were willing to pay for a porter, but no one was around. Only one guy was at the check-in desk, and he couldn't leave his station.

So, the Palazzo Bembo is an okay place if you don't mind a bit of self-service and rationed electricity. It was very clean and centrally located, so you can't go wrong in that. I would probably not stay there again only because of the luggage issue and dark corridors.

“Great Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

We have just come back from our weekend trip to Venice. This hotel was the perfect location to get around Venice and you can see the riatto bridge from the junior suite there. The breakfast buffet was very lovely and amazing services.
