“Hidden Gem”

Great all around! The hotel is in a hidden away little court, that is shared with a church. The church's claim to fame is it is the church that Vavaldi was baptised in. It is an easy 3-5 minute walk to San Marco Square. The room was a little small, but it was a single bed and I was traveling by myself and I paid about 75 Euros for the night. That price in the city is very hard to find. The desk clerk was friendly. She gave tips on how to avoid the crowds and where to get real Venice food, and not the tourist trap rigatoni with tomato sauce. I only stayed one night, and left before breakfast. So, I can't comment on that part. If I was traveling with family this hotel might not have worked out so well. If you are on your own, or traveling on business, or its just you and your signifigant other this hotel is a gem. If you are travelling with more than 2 people, find another hotel.

Room Tip: All actually no where in Venice is really accessible by wheel chair. It propably can be done, but i...

“Not worth the money and a nasty manager!”

We were looking forward to this hotel and hoping it would be our nicest stay in Italy. It was our worst ever!!! We booked 6 weeks in advance through their website and asked for a crib for our infant daughter. When we arrived we were shown to a small room (#212) with a day bed in lieu of the crib. The desk clerk was helpful and alerted someone and we were told that we would have the crib in a few hours. We asked for a new room but were told that the hotel was full. The desk clerk agreed that the room would be too small with a crib and suggested we talk to the staff tomorrow to change rooms. We asked the desk clerk (who was the manager unbeknownst to us) and he stated grumpily that he would have the daybed removed instead of moving to another room. We agreed out of convenience. When we arrived home that evening the day bed was still in the room. We asked the desk clerk who called the manager and he said they forgot. Mind you we are spending 130 Euro. He said they could remove the bed in a couple of hours. It was already late and my daughter was asleep so we would wait till the next day. To make matters worse the heat was shut off between 9PM and 6:30AM, it was Sunday night and mid 30s outside. We all froze and my daughter woke up all night from being cold. The next morning we asked the desk clerk/ manager if we could change rooms. He was annoyed and defensively stated that they forgot. He called for the room cleaner who had forgotten and made us look at him?! We asked calmly for a discount and also stated that there was no heat. He lunged into my wife's face with his as if to intimidate and then she pulled back from him as if to say "back off". He said the heat was not on at night and that was the way it is, he then said we had never asked for a crib? When we calmly continued to ask for a discount under these inconvenient circumstances he looked at my wife, laughed and walked away. The man was obviously "off" but there was nothing we could do. We filed a complaint with the Tourist Information and will make sure Trip Advisor viewers and Rick Steve knows. Aside from having the back of your knees touch the bidet as you brush your teeth, the hotel itself has a sterile feel. The breakfast is awful, cheap, tasteless bread and croissants, disgusting coffee (awful). We noticed after three nights there that no one had ever cleaned under the beds in a while and there were dust bunnies. There was also floor paneling that was loose and fell off. Not to mention our room was over a bar/cafe and we heard their radio as if it were in our room, each night until 9PM. We're so sorry we stayed there - find another place to stay!! I will try to post pictures.

Room Tip: I cannot recommend this hotel at all.

3 nigths in a large room with a view on a street and a view on the square, very clean, quiet, modern bathroom, great place for breakfast, close to everything we wanted to see (Biennale, Palazzo Grassi, etc...), at a super price (270€ 3 nights!), my GF happy too, that's the most important!! Ok, breakfast not that big, who cares ! I'll go back for sure!

Room Tip: ask for 2nd floor or higher, room with a view

“Highs and lows”

Overall, I liked this hotel. We had a large room with a very large bathroom and a great shower. The woman who worked the main desk was very friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient to St. Marco and the vaporetto stop. However, I must agree with others that the breakfast was not very good, and there was a strange swampy smell in the lower foyer. However, that smell did not affect our room, so we were not bothered by it. The price for this hotel was very attractive, so I feel that I got a good value, but the next time I travel to Venice, I will spend a bit more to get something a little bit nicer.

“The worst hotel in Italy we stayed at.”

This was supposed to be our big splurge. We payed for a room with a "view". This was the most expensive room in all our travels including Rome and Florence. The room and lobby STUNK! AWFUL GAG SMELL! Thank god it was cool we slept with the window open. The manager/owner was a complete jerk and spoke terrible english. The food was awful and the coffee was even worse. They were snooty about this awful plastic dump. The only thing historic in the hotel was the main breakfast room. The WIFI didn't really work EVEN sitting next to the router in the Lobby. The rooms were large (the largest in all Italy) but the view was of a square (there are no canal views), but all the furniture is old crappy painted k-mart pieces, the floor is laminate, the walls and rest plastic and cheap new. Why am I so pissed?! I paid over $1000 for 4 nights in a "historical palace" and I got a plastic cheap motel with snobby jerks running the place. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Room Tip: Don't bother with a "view". There are NO canal views. Rooms on first floor stink ter...
