Great location: ~5min from train station and ~1min from vaporetto stop; but google the location first. Nice , helpful staff: the receptionist even showed our room in person. Everything is minuscule as expected in the old city. Breakfast is served directly to the room. Clean, well maintained room, recently remodeled. I paid 100E/night for double room thru expedia.com

I arrived to veince via train from Florence. I found the hotel without to much trouble. The lady at the front desk was very friendly, wanted to chat all day! I was very pleased with it, even though i was very tired.

I got the room right at the top of the building, it was interesting to walk up and down the stairs every moring to the bathroom. I got a small room, but it had a mini bar, and tv.... things i had not had in awhile. The view was also very good, over looking some roof tops of venice, i feel very nice in that small room, it made me wonder what people had lived in that room before me... or what the room had been used for once upon a time.

The breakfast was wonderful, hot tea, bread ect.... sitting outside my door at the time i asked for. veru personal and special.

The lady was very good a sugesting places for me to go and see, and chatted madly away everytime i saw her.

the hotel was very close to some very nice resturants, sadly i was short on cash and spend alot of my dinners eating piaza from vendors.

I was very happy with my stay and i would go again in a heart beat.

I spent a week in Venice early in March. Hotel Doge proved to be nice if somewhat basic place to stay. I booked single room, which was small but this did not mattered much to me, because i basically wanted a bed to sleep. My booking did not included breakfast which is otherwise served into rooms. Toilet and shower was shared - on the floor, clean and good. Hotel is located nearby railway station, perhaps not most scenic or athospheric part of Venice, but fine anyway. With direction posted on booking sites or hotel website there is no problem to find it. Just follow you nose from Scalzi bridge into narrow street straight ahead and then look for small sings on wall "Albergo Doge". All in all, if you look for nice and simple place just for a few night sleep, Doge is one of good alternatives to consider.
